Also, if the same user has more than one spam thread, you dont need to report more than one. When we spam-ban them it deletes all of their posts. So you can save yourself and us time by just reporting one of their threads/posts

it seems to be getting worse and worse lately....it is annoying and you would think they have better things to do with their time

Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you – not because they are nice, but because you are.

The type I find annoying are the people I don't know who send PMs asking me to join Program X under their referral link. The last one was at least creative about it. The first post just said, "Will you help me?" When I asked with what, they said that their friend was trying to use their Legerweb link and it wouldn't work, could I please click on it to see if I could get it to work!
I suspect it was the same person who had PMd me about the same site and got banned a week or two ago, they probably signed up under another name.

Personally....I'd report I'd report a pm that felt "off".
I certainly wouldn't be clicking links on pms unless I'd asked that member to send it to me...
Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!

there has been so much of it latley.....I think they should come up with some sort of new rule...maybe that a person has to have a certain amount of posts before they can start threads....that at least might eliminate the stupid spam threads that are started

I just can't see sitting there everyday, making a new profile to join to post these threads, knowing that they will be deleted within a few hours. Guess some people have nothing better to do with their time.

Yep, it actually takes us longer if you report more than one as we have to open each report to see its the same spammer, so by only reporting once, we ban them - deleting all their posts and can move onto the next one without having to open more to say we did it from another report. Obviously not foolproof as someone else may report the first and you report the second - but absolutely no need for you to click through all of them
and yes NEVER EVER click a link a spammer sends you and if someone PMs you spam, use the ! report button in the PM to send us a report

There are 2 ways of doing that...setting up a filter on the board software or having each post manually checked by a real live person.
Then you have to decide how many posts before allowing a member to start a new thread. Too many and you lose new members...too few and a dedicated spammer/spambot will just flood the board with inconsequential posts.
If you go for the modded option...this board regulary attracts 100 new members a day. For example at 5 modded posts before starting new threads , the poor mod would be processing upto 500 posts on a daily basis, thats the equivalent of a ..what 20 page thread?? and that still wouldn't stop some-one who really, really wants to engulf the site with spam.

dont think so, it just takes you to a page that sends the link to us. but if someone reports the same thread it goes into the same report as a reply - its only when its a different thread that it makes a different report. so the person would not see the reported symbol in the other thread anyway

Can't blame spam people for coming on here....there's over 5 million posts here. The site needs to rid itself of the needless, non contributing threads like Chat-a-thon, post anything thread etc...so many redundant, useless threads.
Mods should really be paying more attention...i don't blame the spammers, i blame the mods who can't keep forums neat and tidy and delete repetitive threads.
