SDM is overpriced and you need to pay tax on purchase with points, so its not $ for $
If you consider the bonus event,
$1 is 452 points so $25 would be $11300
but, you could likely get at least 1/3 more at another store compared to SDM so around 8000 points IMO
but it is just my opinion, others may disagree

So wouldn't the number of points go up instead of down for a $25 gift card since sdm points are overvalued (because the products are more expensive there)?
$25=11,300 points if the points were equal value....so more points to make up for their poor value at the store.
Maybe I'm just confused,

why would someone give you more points?
they could redeem 11300 for $25 with their own points rather than buy a GC from you at a higher amount, they may go higher if they really need a GC for somewhere else
As I said, maybe others have different opinions but there is no way I would give $30 in points for a $25 GC unless it was one I really needed (depends a lot on the GC too, a WM git card would be worth more to me than iTunes etc)

You can't redeem the sdm points for gift cards and the stuff at sdm is overpriced so I would think you'd give more sdm points for a $25 gift card to someplace like Walmart (where you could buy more stuff then that same number of points would give you at sdm). Ditto for any gift card that you could use, like gas or Tim hortons (depends on what you need). So I would pay more sdm points for a gift card, gift card is like cash. I'd trade 8000 points all day long for a $25 gift card, smoking good deal for me! In fact I'd trade more then the 11300 because I could get more actual dollar value from a gift card then sdm merchandise. $30 in points doesn't really give you $30 in merchandise value IMO.
Maybe I'm reading it wrong what you've written or maybe I value thing differently.
but I guess that's where the negotiation comes in....

For fpc, I value them at $12/ticket...more if you can use them on 3d or IMAX which costs a lot more and I use actual product value of the fpc not the value stated on the coupon (like no couponers is going to pay $9 for a box of cereal!)
I've never traded for gift card...

In Vancouver these are the prices:
Admission
General (14-64) $12.50
Child (3-13) $9.50
Senior (65+) $9.50
3D General (14-64) $15.50
3D Child (3-13) $12.50
3D Senior (65+) $12.50
UltraAVX 3D General (14-64) $17.50
UltraAVX 3D Child (3-13) $14.50
UltraAVX 3D Senior (65+) $14.50
IMAX General (14-64) $19.50
IMAX Child (3-13) $13.50
IMAX Senior (65+) $13.50
this is Toronto:
Admission
General (14-64) $12.99
Child (3-13) $8.99
Senior (65+) $8.99
3D General (14-64) $15.99
3D Child (3-13) $11.99
3D Senior (65+) $11.99
UltraAVX 3D General (14-64) $17.99
UltraAVX 3D Child (3-13) $13.99
UltraAVX 3D Senior (65+) $13.99
Copied from the Cineplex website...it does look like some of the smaller theatres are less expensive but not by much (adult regular movie, no 3D is still $11.00).
We don't have a Cineplex here where I am...so I have no idea what they are worth, I just guess from what I'm told...

Exactly! I have to admit it makes me feel better about the "cheap" movies we get in our small town....but the movie quality is not nearly as good! Those FPC Cineplex tickets trade like hotcakes to people in major centers and I can see why when you look at the 3D movie prices.

OK, let me clarify something for you: Cineplex admit one movie passes are not good on 3D or IMAX admission, and you have to pay extra. Thus the price of the Cineplex admit one movie pass is equal to the price of the general admission ticket, which is differ from province to province, from city to city. So, in general Cineplex is worth $10 max.

i've been noticing a lot of samples being offered/traded. So, I was wondering, how are samples valued? do they = regular coupons, hv or fpc?

RE: Cineplex I find many overvaluing these. You can buy a kids admit one plus concession combo for $10 on the costco.ca site emailed right to your phone for immediate use - and printable. You can buy the airmiles voucher for $24.99 - also emailed and printable and it is afterall a coupon with exp date so I wouldn't trade it for more than a $15 gift card and even then that's more than half value - ok rant over.
