I feel the same. I keep thinking maybe I will do one and then wait and then I think but I really don't need anything right now.

It's always a good idea if you save your points and use them at other times (not necessarily boxing day) when sales are exceptionally good on items you need and that you would normally buy at any other store. That would free up your real cash for whatever else it is you need that's not available at SDM . You might find you may not even need to take advantage of most of the bonus points spending days because you'll have enough points already to get what you need at the most opportune time. This would mean that you'll be saving much more, again, in real cash throughout the year.

Honestly, I adore the optimum program but, it's easy to get caught up in the cycle of spending money (often on items we don't always need) to get points, spend points, spend money to get points.... It's akin to gambling or any other addiction, imo, in the sense that it's like getting a rush while chasing the points. This is the psychology behind the whole optimum program...it's why it's so profitable for them. The dealer always makes the money, not the buyer.

Now, all that being said , lol, I'll be redeeming at the 38 000pt level (70$) not because I don't have enough points but, because there isn't anything else I need at the moment and I don't want to spend my points just for the sake of spending them. I'll be getting about 10 bags of milk to freeze (if there is enough available in the store), 2-3 boxes of Q-Tips, Advil or Motrin, 2 tubes of John Frieda shampoo, and 1 of conditioner (great sale price combined with the 10$ wub3 cpn). I was extremely careful with my spending this past year so it allowed me to save enough money to get a nicer variety of holiday gifts at better prices elsewhere.

I have enough for a $60 redemption, not sure it's worthwhile to go for the extra $10 to wait until Saturday. I'll have a car on Friday, not on Saturday, so that's a factor too. I haven't gotten flyers delivered for ages, and it's hard to really get the picture in the online flyer. So I'm going to pick up a flyer tomorrow to see what's on for this week, and figure out whether it's worthwhile to wait another day and have to drag my purchases home.

I rarely shop at SDM anymore, partly because I don't get the flyers, so this is the first redemption I've done in quite some time.

Well I have been mulling over this redemption, the odd of SDM having bonus redemption throughout next year at $200 level is highly likely, so basically it's only $10 more in comparison. Maybe people will spend less at SDM so they'll have to raise the level again to $220 to $250 range.

On the second redemption you have non-smelly deodorant listed twice. Also, for the crackers, is the price a guess or did you check in store? Just wondering because if that is the actual price I'm going to have to get some!

I agree with everything you said, Snuff. One thing tho' -- I was also going to do the 38k = $70. But then I realized for 12k more, I can get $35 more stuff. I just can't pass that up Buying mostly groceries with the extra pts/$.

Btw, do check if the Motrin/Advil have Din #s. If so, I believe they will count as medication and you cannot use points and redeem for them.
