I was diagnosed with bipolar a few years ago and we have found that since i have started couponing and stock piling it has helped out a lot for our family finances - one issue I have is the strong urge to spend money I have bought some of the dumbest things in the past - eBay has been a big problem in the past - I try very hard not let it win but the pull can be over whellming, so with shoppers 20x points (getting the most points i can) and redemption days (beating my last number of item- 67 is my highest). I have found this fills that urge and instead of costing money it saves money. I don't beat my self up anymore.
I redeemed 95000 pts. I paid thru the nose for the pasta I bought – by the time I got there the organic ones that were on sale were sold out (not a shocker). Here’s what I got:
4 organic corn chips
2 breads – on sale
2 organic catsup
1 organic hot chocolate
2 organic sugar
1 salsa had 1 off coupon
2 organic peanut butters
4 organic jams
4 uncle bens rice bowls – on sale
4 cans of soup – on sale
2 organic teas
2 pickles
1 razor blades – wow there expensive
2 Kraft dressing
4 glade garbage bags – had $2 coupon for each
1 arm & hammer laundry detergent – coupon
1 dishwasher soap
2 organic Mac & Cheese
4 Campbells Broth – on sale
1 box of k- cups
10 boxes of pasta
1 chocolate sauce
1 milk to go ( for my son for being good)
Total with tax 233.72 paid $23.72 - forgot to buy a gift card to pay the difference so missed out on 250 points, only earned 250 points, but my hubby figured 91% savings and that made me smile.

Way to turn a struggle into a victory!
I don't have bipolar, but I was always shopping and bargain hunting...sometimes buying stuff because it was a good deal, and not because I needed it. I have found that couponing gives me a place to focus all that into one positive area, and has saved our family alot!
Also, I was LOLing at the 'Milk to go' for your son for being good....my SDM redemption list included a Lip Smackers for my daughter for being good She's 3 and stuck it out through 2 redemptions (almost 3 hours).

Yes -- redeeming at Shoppers lets you think for a long time about what you're going to redeem for, so it's not really mindless shopping that's over and done with almost immediately. With two little ones, I rarely have time to go to the mall "shopping", so I get my fill of "shopping" doing grocery shopping and going to points days at SDM.
