Thread: Free Sneakers

DH's company has a great group insurance plan. We get almost free eye glasses and examinations every 2 years, free dental care, almost free prescription drugs.
So DH comes home last night and told me about this "Wellness" program and must be used by end of this year. You can get a gym membership, buy sports equipment, etc. Up to $100. Since DH and DS are same shoe size, DS got a free pair of sneakers.
I told DH don't quit your day job.

Nice brag! One of our goals next year is to actually use our benefits. We're so bad at getting the value out of them. Massages for everyone!

You are very fortunate, most companies cover less and less anymore. (I've always loved New Balance for running shoes.)

That is excellent use of the plan.
That's what we want to do starting January 2013, New Years resolution, look at DH's new benefit plan and make use of most of what is available...ie. get those glasses early!

free dental care? wow. the bf's coverage has $2000 per year(80%), but dental office rips me off just because I got insurance, makes the company pays $400 and I have to pay from my own pocket $80! just to clean my teeth.

Both kids had to have 4 molars extracted this summer. Over $3000, free. And another $200 for antibiotics and pain medication. Paid under $3. Oh yeah, the whining was also free.

That kind of use of insurance is very smart. Fitter people have less ailments is the theory!
