Well, DS1, almost four, got a little bucket of Lego for Christmas. We opened it today at the kitchen table. No bases, and hardly any large bricks. Hmmm...

Went down to the crawlspace and dug through a few bins I haven't opened in years. Found all of my old Lego. Found a dozen Dr. Seuss/P.D. Eastman books. Found my BROTHER'S Lego. Found Micro Machines too. Got very dusty.

Felt pretty good to be able to mine the basement for some otherwise pretty expensive stuff that DS will like. He was so excited, calling from the door of the furnace room, "Mom? Mom? Did you find any more wego? Is there any more in there? I wike wego!" (He forgets to pronounce "L's" when he gets excited.)

I'll have to return my brother's Lego and Micro Machines to him this week. I kind of think he'll be just as excited as my DS was with our finds.

lego is so awesome. its honestly a shame that you cant really just buy a bucket of lego anymore and its always soooo expensive on kijiji. i lucked out two years ago and got 1600pc basic lego on black friday from wm for $30 but it seems like all you can buy now are special kits. Good for you, i'm sure he, and you , will enjoy it muchly. i know me and my family do

My DD and DS both love Lego They ask for it for every gift giving holiday They have all my lego from when I was a kid. We all love building and playing with it. I have to admit I sometimes play longer than the kids ;-) I am glad you found this treasure to share with your little one. The look on your brothers face will be priceless ;-)

Lego is one of the best toys/learning tools available for kids. They are a bit expensive but you get a lot of mileage for your money. They never loose their attraction factor. Lego stimulates imagination and creativity and develops visual and spatial skills. Parents, grandparents and kids have fun together building with lego blocks. For those with a real passion for lego, there are Lego technic sets which offer the capability to build engines, suspensions, robotic arms, etc. Great post OP! Our basement can be used for treasure hunting too.

Lego. Hmmm. Doesn't use your thumbs or a controller. Isn't electronic. 2013- kids love Lego.
Nice you found treasures in your basement.

My boys are now 19,22 and 25. Lego was one toy they asked me to NEVER through out. I didn't and my school age daycare kids love it. Probably have grandchildren before long that will also enjoy it.
