oops. ok thanks Natalka. Well yes now I too see it is offensive to many. I watch so much Stephen Colbert, Jon Stewart and similar shows that it has become the norm for me to see that on tv they satirize everyone and everything, so that might be why I didn't think it was a such big deal.
I will not leave ING just yet though. I will give them another chance, they seem to have learned from this.

It's approaching tax time when many Canadians get down over there finances and where they will have enough for retirement. There's more than one way to view this ad.

Saw this commercial, also did not think twice about being offended like some others
I don't like any banking commercials on TV, they are all the same BS

A lot of people are depressed about their finances and I can see what their aim is but they missed with this commercial.

after watching the video I really dont get how this could be offensive. I have suffered from depression in the past, but found this video amusing. ( especially the part where hes lying on the couch, who lies on a couch like that?)

I think it's right to stand up for what you believe in. Not everyone will think it's offensive but if you do then do what you think is right.
My wife actually thought it was an erectile dysfunction ad at firstWin Amazon Giftcards just by searching with Swagbucks! I've made over $700!!!

Not a big deal at all in my opinion and I have suffered from Anxiety and severe depression from a young age.I thought it was very clever.People need to grab a sense of humor and stop looking for things to be offended about. Of all the offensive things that go on in this world this is not something that even rates on the offensive scale to me personally.
Not once was depression or mental illness mentioned in the add, but if this is the message you perceived and it offended you than you gotta do what you gotta do. We all have our own principles and limits.Last edited by thriftygranny; Thu, Jan 24th, 2013 at 07:07 PM.

Just got our tax statement from ING. ING made us money! in 2012. Big 5 banks gives 0.25 per cent interest. ING has some 3 month promos where you can get up to 2 per cent interest.

Thriftygranny, I would actually say I have a better sense of humour than most. The guy is moping around until his wife puts him on to ING which makes him all better...I've suffered from PTSD and depression, too, and it's not something I consider to be a laughing matter. Kudos to you if you can find humour in your personal situation. For me, learning that my cousins hanged themselves because they couldn't see any other alternative to end their pain will stay with me forever. I don't dwell on it, but I'm sure their father and brothers wouldn't have found the ad funny either, and one of them is actually a professional comedian.

That's the thing about humour is it is totally personal. I joke about most things in life and I'm quite sure it prevents me from going crazy but I'm sure other people would disapprove of my humour
Can't please everyone, Some people will be annoyed by something other people find hilarious. Can't change anyones opinion and nor would I want to.Win Amazon Giftcards just by searching with Swagbucks! I've made over $700!!!

I agree, "Can't please everyone, Some people will be annoyed by something other people find hilarious." However, when a company such as ING, with it's millions of advertising $ makes light of mental illness, then I believe this multinational has gone too far. ING can afford a much better marketing campaign than this one.
