I am wondering if anyone has any experience or advice about dropping data plan from mobile phone? My friend wants to get the bell hub for her new home, and does not need the data plan on her phone anymore.
She signed a 3 year contract and got the phone for free by doing so. In order to get the data plan off she has to pay $200. In order to get completely out of her phone contract she would have to pay $560.

She wants to have unlimited txt and a fab 10, call answer and display on her phone. She does not have a home phone or tv. Today, they said they could not do anything about the $200 free for dropping the data plan. Even though she told them she would be getting the hub and paying $50 a month for that to them.

If this isn't completely clear.........please ask. I am looking to try to help her with this issue she is having.

    Thanks

I think you'll be very lucky to get an movement from Bell on the early cancellation fee. DH's aunt and uncle just had to return to the UK to take care of an ailing parent and they had to pay nearly $1200 in cancellation fees. There was no latitude even though they had to leave.

Sadly, they lay out all the details when you sign up, so you rarely have a leg to stand on when trying to get out of a contract early.

Hmmmm..... that is what I was afraid of. Seems the bigger the company..............the less likely they are to make any exceptions.

Bell will not budge on this especially since she used the contract to get the free phone. In all honesty $200 seems like a good deal based on previous experiences I have seen others have with bell. Because this could be seen as breaking her contract (dropping the data) I am surprised Bell is not telling her she has to also pay for the phone, I have seen them do this many times there is a pentalty for changing your contract and than because you changed it in their eyes you broke the contract which means you no longer qualify for the free phone.
