I am a bit obsessed with Steven Colbert ( but to be fair I was a fan when he was just a " correspondent along with Steve Carell on The Daily Show), so I have his books, read I Am America And So Can You a few years ago, then bought the new one America Again, Re-becoming The Greatness We Never Weren't at Xmas, but have not started it yet.
Then yesterday I got an email with a special gift from DS#1, all 3 of Steven's book on audio!!!
I even did all the technical computer part of downloading it into my " library ", I was nervous because I had to install something first?? forget now what it was. Oh it is so much better hearing him narrate them!
Even the silly kids book I Am A Pole And So Can You is narrated by him and Tom Hanks, they act silly too.

the Hobbit - kinda finished this - I skimmed the last few chapters lol after Smaug dies. Not terrible, but I don't think I will be reading more LOTR books
Eat, Pray, Love - always meant to read this - inspiring and well written (imo)
My next read will be Shake Hands with the Devil - great movie, very touching - I've always meant to read the book that inspired it.

I am currently re-reading the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, and am on the 3d book (Voyager). Damn, I do love me some Red Jamie!
I'd forgotten so much about the series, and am falling in love with it all over again!

Finished The Midwife of Venice by Roberta Rich...I like that she is Canadian and did a lot of research for her book. It seemed very authentic for 15th century. She used a lot of Italian which I found wordy. I would have liked an index of those words meanings at the back. The story is an interesting one but slow to start. I don't usually say this, but I think it would make a better play write or screen write than book.... 6.5/10. Anyone else read this one? Thoughts?

Millionaire Women Next Door by Thomas J. Staney.
Same author of The Millionaire Next Door
I am surprised to learn that many of these women are school teachers and did not make millions of dollars. They just knew how to save, spend wisely and invest wisely.
The book writes about one male -- learning disabled but loved cars and worked detailing cars.
Opened his own luxury car detailing business (comes to your house) then bought duplexes.
Great book -- always on reserve list (wait list) at the library.

I recently read, "The Travelers Gift" by Andy Andrews. It was a quick read, but I enjoyed it.

- Shwa,
TX on this. The Millionaire Next Door is one of my favourite financial books so I'll have to get this. Buffy runs for the hills when finances come up. Perhaps she'll read this one.
PS: I write for a financial magazine.

You are welcome.
Show her page 272 - Beverly the car saleslady. Beverly is a millionaire but gives away 30% of her money to needy charities.Beverly sold a used van to a family in need. She scoped for months for the best deals for this family. When the van broke down 1 day after the 30 day warranty, Beverly told the dealership accountant that they had to repair it for free - no questions. It cost $1800 in repairs.
Maybe Buffy would like it better as a CD/book on tape, for the car.

A Game of Thrones. By George R. R. Martin. I have the whole boxed set but I had to read the very last chapter of the last book first before starting the series! Bad habit I've had for years.

I can't profess to understand God's plan. Christ promised the resurrection of the dead. I just thought he had something a little different in mind.
