I received a call this afternoon...wait, it was a text from my eldest boy (22 just turned). I am apparently goiing to be a Grandma. Not sure how am am feeliing about this so once I figure it out I will talk more about it....

OK, ready to discuss the grandma matter a wee bit today....

Facts:
- I haven't met my son's partner they have only been together 3 months and live in a different town
- she is 18 (still a baby in my eyes)
- she still lives at home and my son lives with his biological father (that is a whole different tale)


I don't mean to be harsh but I had to implement tough love with my DS about 3 years ago and sent him to his fathers to live. He was constantly getting high (smoking pot), stealing from other family members, ect. It finally came to a point where his siblings were suffering and any help we tried to give him was not successful. We love him dearly but he just continued to make poor choices. DS usually only contacts me when he needs financial help.

I know that I will love this baby and my greatest fear will be that they will not stay together. I also know that this is going to involve a lot of help from me finacially which is going to be really tough. I need them to be independant and raise a family and understand that the baby is most important. How that could happen at this point in time I am not sure. They will likely be moving to the city so that I can be closer.

This whole thing is so complicated so I need to think a little longer about it. I will be meeting the future mother of my grandbaby on Saturday and will have a better feel for how things are then. I asked my son what her parents felt about the new additon. Apparently they are ok with it .If it was my daughter I would not feel the same.

Well, if they move nearer what can do is provide free sitting only and only if they are both going to either further educate themselves or find solid jobs. Mamawon't be able to work for a while so the push will be for my son to further educate himself while working part time or find a job that will be sufficient to support his new family. I would also like to have his girlfriend go back to school once she is ready and would fully support it so that they both have a brighter future.

I will of course be couponing for baby stuff now lol. She is not due until October so I will wait a few months and see how this all is going to work. My home is not large enough to take in 3 more people so finding affordable housing for them is going to be quite the challange. SEE, I am doing it already..... they need to do some of the work and need to back away a bit and let them make their grown up decisions. I should offer suggestions and not be the director . I certainly don't want to my future DIL to be at odds with a controlling MIL. OMG I am so not ready for this .

let us know if you do start couponing for the baby...I would be happy to send what I can!

Today... I stayed in "Pumpkin Land". I didn't answer the phone. I didn't cook supper. I didn't do the dishes. I didn't tidy up. I didn't do the laundry. I didn't walk the dog(s). I didn't make something for his lunch tomorrow. I didn't make the bed.

I did however prove a point to my hubby that I don't sit around the house all day doing absolutely nothing.

Sometimes proving a point without saying a word is TONS of fun

Now that he has apologized he will enjoy the privilege of sleeping tonight.

Well, fun times. First periid after baby is HELL. Not impressed.

In other news, don spoke w his boss and the company is paying for us to fly out. Don came home on friday and came to the realization that he couldnt leave me alone with alexa for 3 weeks. I believe his exact words were, "I can't leave you alone with her that long, you'll hate her by the time I get home." Ummm...no Sherlock! I can be a good mom during the day because I know at 6ish pm I'll be able to pee without being on the clock! My patience has limits. Single parents...I have NOTHING but respect and admiration for you. You are miracle workers. So, dlee, I'll be in your neck of the woods mid-March 10th week onwards.

My mission this and next week is to sort out my march 31 expiries, buy a deep feeezer, and buy up what I need with my March coupons asap. I've got some serious shoppig to do

Rant of the day, some of you know that our house flooded last fall, So, because we made a claim on our house insurance when this happened, our insurance provider will not renew our policy. Ummm, what is insurance for?WTF is up with this - they love to take your money but when you have to use the service you are paying for they drop you? Sounds like crooked business to me.

My BFF had this happen when their basement flooded. The sump pump failed and there was over a foot of water in the basement... it was horrible, I remember getting the call at 645am and came to the rescue with a wet vac, and rubber boots. (not much of a rescue though... most stuff was too far gone) Anyways... when the insurance came up for renewal, they would no longer cover them. I'm like, WTF? I don't get it.. I've always had a "no claims" discount on my policy, but are you telling me the first claim I make, I'm dropped like a hot potato?

It does seem like a pretty shady business practice doesn't it...
