I actually asked my boss the other day lol she said:
If you buy 1x Iogo / Yop / KiK / Astro Drinkable Yogourt, it's taxable
- This is because it's considered "on the go" and thus, "fast food" like chips or pop
However,
If you buy a case of 12x Iogo / Yop / KiK / Astro Drinkable Yogourt, it is not taxed
- This is because you have to open a multi-unit package to get to that one product
I told her "That's dumb; I can just open the package in <2sec and get the same thing as if I had bought only one." She said she knows, but it's the government
not us
@Mama-5,couponer
Hope to see you there! We're a great bunch, too, so good service, good prices, fantastic coupon support.Last edited by Yusshin; Sun, Mar 24th, 2013 at 10:14 PM.
Because of fake prints, stacking manus is no longer allowed
But you can still stack Coupon Zone + 1x Manu, like other Maxi / Loblaw Stores

While I very much appreciate Yusshin sharing this information with us, I have to admit, I'm a little worried. I'm trying to look at this as objectively as I can. There is a reason why stacking is not allowed in most provinces, now limited as to quantity in the few stores that do still allow it in some Western provinces, and why the majority of coupons have restrictions worded on them. Manufacturers use coupons to promote a product, not to give it away by the hundreds to a single consumer. It's simply not smart business practice to lose money. I'm afraid that, at best, once manufacturers and distributors catch on, they will have the store put an end to stacking and, at worst, the store won't be reimbursed for the increased amount of coupons they submit (because we have to know that they will eventually be inundated with people using an enormous amount of coupons).
In addition, I think it's commendable that Yushin is willing to work overtime after store closing hours to help a consumer but, this comes at a cost to the store itself, ie. overtime pay and any other related expenses (I imagine other employees would have to stay as well so that one person is not left alone in the store?). What happens when there are 20, 30, 40+ people daily that necessitate 30+ minutes at the check-out? Will the store be willing to pay overtime for more employees to accommodate them? Hire extra cashiers? More employees to stock shelves? More employees to handle the storage? More disgruntled "regular" customers because items are continuously out of stock?
I really don't mean to be a party pooper but, I'm trying to look at this from a business point of view and why this sort of practice won't be sustainable (we've learned from experience that it hasn't been in any other store that has allowed copious amounts of stacking elsewhere).
For what it's worth, I hope those that can experience stacking here enjoy it while they can
but, I'm also hoping that peeps act responsibly and respectfully towards the other customers, the staff, and the store itself so as to avoid the store's generosity from being short-lived.

As for the topic of sales taxes being included or excluded from FPCs, I can't say for other provinces but, in Quebec, laws relating to provincial taxes override any manufacturers' and/or stores' policies. If my memory serves me correctly, taxes still have to be paid on the entire amount of the product regardless of coupons and/or FPCs used. I can only guess that why some stores include the taxes could be because they aren't aware of this? Here's some more information I just found on Revenue Quebec's website...scroll down to page 50 under the title, "Reimbursable Coupons." http://www.revenuquebec.ca/documents...2012-07%29.pdf

When someone comes on here with 5 posts to their name and comes out with statements like the OP did I think everyone is going to be wanting to know A LOT more about this policy since it is the only one in Quebec. Remember the addage if it's sounds to good to be true then it is.
You have been on the boards since December and you never mentioned it either. You have also been to meetups yet I have heard nothing from the other SCer's that attended those meetups with regards to this policy and some of them are much closer to this store than you are. I can understand people not wanting to share this info. especially on this board.
So now the news is out.
Good luck to everyone who shops there. I hope you can score some great deals.

On the subject of tax free items:
Get it at SDM punched in as 2002.
According to Walmart and Giant Tiger coupon policy, no sales tax is applied on free merchandise.
Get it at Loblaws banner stores on tax free day, but then again, your coupons might be expired by the time that happens.
Mourelatos cash registers applies coupons to the items itself. That's how I get tax free Royale toilet paper. Cashier scans 4 roll TP @1.49, put in coupon as 1.49 with $2 coupon, scrolls to item, apply coupon to item tax included, OOP is $0.00Last edited by couponmummy; Mon, Mar 25th, 2013 at 09:55 AM.

Hello :D
As for staying ~40min extra for this, it was OK because it was super-super busy anyway (someone didn't show up -_- 12-people lines, it was horrible!) so it was probably appreciated that I just didn't Suspend and give it to someone else. For future transactions with similar customers/scenarios, it's a possibility to Suspend and let another Cashier take up what's left, if the first needs to go.
And if people come at the right time (posted about weekdays here), then it should be OK because the amount of Cashiers are typically more than enough for the customers that come, especially Mon/Tues.
As for shelf clearing / similar stuff, this might actually be beneficial. I see the associates 1/2 the time on their cellphones, squatting and texting, in the back of the store. This might actually force the manager of the section to enforce the no-cellphone rule to up productivity, since there will be more stuff to stock. There are also days that they complain that there's nothing left to do (do not know how this is possible; there is always something)! So we shall see
@Patty,
To be fair, I only met her about two weeks ago, and this is the second time she's done this. She hasn't been keeping it to herself for months or years or anything

There has not been a meetup since I found out about this. I don't understand how some people can get so catty over nothing!
Remember, when you assume............
And those who know me know that I work with the West Island Mission, so YES I will be clearing shelves and will not feel bad about it for a second as I know that these items are going to those who truly need it, not just sitting on display in a pointless stockpile like others do.
I'm sorry, clearly I am a little agitated by those who assume the worst with no reason to. Yusshin u rock, just dust your shoulders off, you are a gem
