I can't keep up most of the time either but my problem is that, when I am at work, I am watching the thread from my iPhone and I find it super hard to read!

Fhank you for changing the post count, Jez! I honestly do read the whole thread! I am just not much of a talker.

this is a good idea I was thinking maybe on the first page a post is reserved so the conductor can post each persons question...but riders usually don't know who their buddy is til after mail day

Maybe the buddy questions are what is too much then, if everyone is answering questions that are really meant for one person - then maybe the 'elves' system would be better, the elf can ask the one person those questions rather than 30 people answering question not really meant for them?

Or all questions are sent to a conductor and at say 8am a list of questions is posted so people know to look for it and answer one set of questions each day, not many posts

Maybe each rider can only ask a certain number of questions in the thread per train (say 2 or 3)? Say with 30 riders on a train, that could still be good amount of questions.

That way the other riders won't feel overloaded with answering tons of questions. Also, the riders who post questions would have to ensure that it's a question they really want an answer for, as it would use up one of their allowed question posts.

I also really like it when the conductor posts "asked questions" in a post on the first page of the thread. It's really easy to use to answer questions you may have missed by mistake.

I like the questions, even if they are intended for a particular buddy it helps me to get to know my buddy better when they answer them

Perhaps there could be some standard questions that should be answered in the initial list sent in? The trains I've ridden all seem to ask what people might like for or from a stockpile. I try to answer all the questions, but often wonder if they are meant for me or not lol. I do try to include a little "story" with my wish list, a bit about me and my family as more general information, so that the person has an idea of our likes, dislikes, hobbies and such. I've had a variety of lists and do use some of the answers given to help me fill it out. I have asked a direct question to the conductor to help personalize things, especially in the advent train.

i like when everyone answer every question (whether its meant for them or not) because I find it interesting to learn about like & dislike etc of the of ladies on the train

Its really easy to miss questions...Plus, then someone needs to keep track of whether or not everyone answers every question and that would be a lot of work!

Jumping in here. I love the questions. I agree that it helps me l earn a bit more about everyone in the thread. Just think what we would have missed out on had it not been fir the Scentsy, gift wrap cutter, elf on a shelf or David's Tea questions. You may not have been the one yo ask the question, but so many times you've probably thought of a great "add on" or a great surprise for your buddy that you wouldn't have sent if someone hadn't asked a question.

I think it's definitely helpful if the conductor keeps a running list of all questions though.

PS - I maintain that the elf is friggin creepy.

The questions are great for getting a "feel" for your buddy, provided they actually answer them in a timely manner.

I think asking the questions is a good idea, and even having them all in one post, but that still means you have to go threw pages, upon pages to find the answers from your buddy. Maybe the "elf" thing is a good idea. Unless every single rider makes a single post to answer all questions?

I'm on my first package train and am keeping a copy of all their answers to the questions at the bottom of their wishlist I saved on word so while i'm shopping they are right there with me I'm still learnign which questions to ask. Like as was just asked int he package train I 'm on
Buddy is there anything I can put in there for you?
as oppose to my question Fav. travel/board game?
as most people weren't looking for one I was. I like the idea of general questions both as a starting point and random throughout and having everyone required to read through and answer them.

This NEEDS to be enforced even for us seasoned riders - I will admit I broke a rule and was not added to the list and should have been!

sorry if this offends anyone but rules are rules
Hmmm... The people that were hand delivering their packages could take a few extra days to deliver (without breaking the rules) as long as they delivered before Mother's Day---so if that's the rule you were talking about, you didn't really break a rule
