I see that there are people who want smaller trains but it does seem like there is no way to please everyone.
I do agree that someone should be active on SC to participate what the magic number of posts are not sure there is a magic number. I think it would be disheartening to have a buddy who "disappears", joins, post they mailed and post they received.
I think no matter what you do you have the "regulars" the same can be said for most boards on SC it usually the same group of people posting and chatting. I personally tend to ride the same type of trains and quite regularly recognize the other riders as ones I have ridden with before.
I do have a question can someone please explain the minimum trade rating, I understand it is 50 but I saw a note that says not from all trains or roaks. Does this mean to qualify you have to be active in the trading forums as well? I do not do a lot of trade but do ride trains and when I have extra coupons or see someone needs something I will roak it but to qualify for a package train to I need to be trading as well?

I am going to send a message to Pixels to discuss some changes. I honestly at times feel why am I putting myself through this ?....the answer is simple...I love SC...
overseeing Pkge Trains doesn't end at updating the sticky...I follow every train regardless as to whether I am riding or not . Almost every recent conductor is also able to contact me via text if they need to reach me and I haven't responded via SC . I am committed and part of that is making myself available should I be needed.
I want these trains to run smooth and be available to everyone
I appreciate hearing different views and comments other people have as changes can\t be made if we don't know there is any issues. I wasn't aware why ppl were not riding trains as I did not recieve any p'ms. Complaints yes I did recieve them and to the best of my ability all issues were resolved...
I have sent many replacement pkges even though it was not my resposibility...but I didn't want ppl to feel left out....but I also had a few buddies who never sent me a gift and guess what ppl I didn't even really know teammed up with some others and sent me a gift *Thank You*
I really want others to join in
I want this fun experience to be enjoyed by many which is why I said to Pixels I wanted to post this thread for feedback. I also want ppl to p'm me if they are not comfortable posting. All p'ms are kept confidential

The ratings should have been more clear....not all ratings can come from VWLT's as one can ride 4-5 trains and with everyone leaving a rating on each train your ratings can jump pretty quickly especially if you are hosting newbie trains as even though you get a rating from everyone on trains.
your trade rating number everyone sees only increases when you get ratings from ppl who have never left you a rating before...Same with RAOKS I could send out 20 raoks and even though I am new I can very quickly up my ratings...
Never has it been said you have to let everyone ride a pkge train...There have been limited rider trains it has always been left up to the conductor...Last edited by Jezebel; Wed, May 15th, 2013 at 07:28 PM.

For the min post requirement to be considered "active" to be eligible to ride a package train, what if you did it like a ratio with how long they have been a member of SC. EG someone who has been a member for a year and only has a small number of posts vs someone who has only been on a short time with a small number of posts. That should be a good indicator of how active the member is. Does that make sense?

kinda but it has potential not to work as my roomie views for instance but only rides the pkge trains and rarely...very rarely posts...so to look at his profile how would we determine if he is still around/active ?
Generally nobody has been turned away/excluded usually the conductor is willing to buddy up with a new person or there is someone who can vouch for the new person...either way I personally to the best of my knowledge never refused a rider

i think it would have to be the same for evveryone to be fair as there are any people who come on and say oh I haven't been on in a while and decide to start a train, they may have been a member for 4 years but haven't been on recently, I have only been here a year and don't recognize these people as they have not been on recently, if it was based on recent activity it would make more sense.
Also i'm a stay at home mom so I am able to be alot more actve than if I was working, between dinner and dishes and laundry etc, if I didn't have the day to do these things I would never see the light of sc jmoJOIN NOW WIN BIG in the Survivor Pool starting in the Spring

I rode on my second package train(the advent one) and I can say I was one of the people who sent a package and my buddy never came on again. So I got no thank-you or feedback but it did not discourage me...Jez took care of what she needed to on her end and that was good enough for me

Unfortuneately there are always going to be people that do something like that or what has happened to Jez (same train I believe)...but with everyone being so AWESOME it all came together. I think whatever Jez and Pixels tweek or change should be complied with from everyone. Noone else is doing their job which is extremely time consuming, stressful and outright hard.
Small or big trains, there is always going to be someone that is not happy but like it has been said you can pick and choose which ones you ride.
THANK-YOU JEZ AND PIXELS FOR THE AWESOME JOBS YOU DO!!!!

~ I will update the sticky over the week-end but here is a quick review of some upcoming changes to Package Trains
~Riders posts must be a minimum of 10 before mail day and 1 time after receive their gift to a maximum of 15 during the train and 1 time once they receive their gift
.
*post a example wish list and new format
*encouraging new riders /having riders vouch for newer ppl..we did this before
*rider reserve requests will not be posted
*all riders must private message to request a seat on the trains...
*For trains such as Advent and Christmas in July ALL riders will be expected to post every 2nd/3rd day as these are large trains with a lot of time and thought put into them as you are getting gifts daily .
*running 2 trains at the same time...I think that is okay we can try it again although you can only ride / conduct 1 train at a time.
*in 2nd post of sticky...posting some optional guidlines conductors can choose from..
..number of riders
..size of pkge
..money spent
..how many items to send
*in the 3rd post of the sticky...posting wishlist ideas
...who is riding which train
...who is hosting which train /when/post date/mail date and theme ~
~The rider buddies will be made by the Conductor and sent to Jezebel this way names can be compared to a master list to ensure ppl are getting different buddies and not requesting the same person all the time .
~If for whatever reason a person posts in the thread they want to ride but are not permitted the post will be modded out so ppl don't feel embarrassed ect as to why they did not get a seat....rarely happens
~the format on how train wish lists sent at the beginning of the train will be revamped
~All rules will be enforced ..example at the beginning of the train EVERYONE knows when mail day is...mail on time ! unless there is an emergency or you are waiting an extra day for a prezzie to arrive. The request of waiting til payday or I am working late is not a valid excuse.

Can you please clarify the 10 and 15 posts? I am confused
The buddy list being made by someone other then the conductor seems a bit over the top. I think the conductor should be responsible for making the list and sending it to someone for approval. That way if changes need to be made (can't request/already sent to/etc) they can be before names are sent out to the riders.
