I always had high expectations when I went to any sdm promo but when I got there it never worked out the way I planned...so I don't bother anymore...I know it sounds negative but it seems that some stores just make it so hard to save money anymore...some make it easier (like walmart) I hope that the upcoming mega redemption promo will redeem all of our thoughts and opinions of sdm...

Finally got an answer from them. They sent me a link to their coupon policy that doesn't work...
They said that yes their gift card is in fact a promotionnal card that makes your subtotal go down.. and here is 8000 sdm points for the trouble... Here is the reply, it'll be simpler than to explain lol ... The rep never acknowledged the fact that they use the word Gift Card when in fact the card is NOT a GC..
Thank you for writing us. Unfortunately, our promotional cash cards are redeemed towards your subtotal. Upon use of these types of cards, the value of the cash card will come off your subtotal and may affect your net total towards a promotion. To view our company coupon policy, please click on the following link,http://www1.shoppersdrugmart.ca/ecms...pon_Policy.pdf<http://www1.shoppersdrugmart.ca/ecms...pon_Policy.pdf> for more information.
As a customer service gesture, we have added 8000 Optimum points on to your card. We're sorry for any misunderstanding that may have been caused.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Customer Service Call Centre at 1-800-SHOPPERs should you have any further questions or comments or require immediate assistance.
Regards,

I have their coupon policy in my purse and if any of them try to tell me differently I say no you are wrong and I do have the policy into purse. Usually when I start to reach for it they just go through with the transaction. Just last week I was told by a new cashier that I wouldn't get my points if it wasn't over $75. I said yes I will, coupons are like cash. I got screwed out of 2 transactions one time by listening to a cashier. Spend way too much out of pocket than I figured on, so now I don't listen to anything they say because I know that the till will tell say in the screen for promotions and also add the points automatically. I try to not go to the new cashiers, I hate having to train them lol

My only words of advice is watch for your points to be added. A few years ago I was given points for the way a manager treated me and it took 3 additional phone calls over a couple of months to get them added. Everyone could see where they should have been added but still they were not added, finally the last one said they would get them added but wait a few days and I got mad and said I keep getting told the same thing and they are never there. Before I knew it they were added right than and there well I was on the phone.

Even if she said that you wouldn't get the points because it was $50 after coupons, the computer still would have given it to you. The cashier has no say in the bonus points. Thank goodness because most of them think it is after coupons!

You get base points only on a GC but you do (or did as of the beginning of Dec) get points on SDM GCs only
You do not get points on all coupons, just manufacturer coupons. Anything SDM sends is treated as a discount including their "gift cards"
