I know some salesmen can be pushy, & better to not even open the door.

A few months ago i had a guy come to the door saying he worked for ontario energy group & he needed to check my furnace & central air...just to make sure everything was "up to code"..& i refused & said my husband takes care of that...etc..he was VERY insistant & kept saying he wanted to make sure we were not "over paying"..i said NO THANKS....so i shut the door & he wanders over to our c/a & writes something on his clipboard.....hubby comes out & tells him to get off our property.

afterwards i looked up the name of his "company"...& first thing that poped up was SCAM.
these people are so PUSHY & obnoxious. Be careful peeps!~~~

Best advice? If you're NOT expecting anyone, don't answer the door. I mean..why should you?

I've had some guy out there ringing our doorbell and knocking on the door for several minutes, all the while with Jenny barking up a storm and he just refused to go away! I even said, "Jenny, that's enough." and I'm sure he could hear that someone was in the house. Thinks I'm going to open the door because he's being obnoxious? LOL......nope, not an ice-cube's chance in hell!

Wow, that's crazy. I'm sorry you had to go through that Candini.

I'm a dog person, so I've always had a guard dog. Police always say they're the best security system. But that's simply not possible for everyone. I suggest a cd player by the door with a recording of a big dog really losing it! ha ha

One of my dogs (coincidently Toban, his middle name was brutus would hurl himself at the door (or through it one time)
You could always throw yourself against the door along with the CD of Dog barking/growling. . . they'd probably crap their pants.

I still don't get how people can just walk into someone else's house without even paying attention to the house numbers. One even took his shoes off and attempted to enter our living room all the while I am standing there staring at him. Sorry this happened to you, glad to hear you had your doors locked!!!
I did that once when I was babysitting. I have the worst sense of direction ever! I was bringing the kids home from the park and walked into the wrong house. Then I had to get the kids out of there with the 3-year-old loudly asking me what we were doing there and why I was trying to push her out the door. Fortunately no one noticed...or maybe they were hiding in the closet with a bat.

sorry you got scared like that!
My next door neighbour in my building tried to come into my apartment late one night but he was stumbling drunk and went to the wrong door LOL we laughed about it later but at the time at 2am it scared the hell out of me.
When we first moved in we installed a second lock for the door and the super was pissed, he thought one lock was enough.. uhh no, and we added a 3rd lock from the inside only.
so whenever DB is gone for the night I triple lock the door lol

That freaks me out! We had someone try and get in our condo at 3am but since they decided to turn the door handle slowly and then push( you know how it kinda loosens the seal on the door?) but Harley decided to sleep on his mat in front if the door so he could smell the air from the hallway and he went APE! I had never heard him bark like that before or since. It was a different kind or bark. There was an alarming tone to it. Guess he did his job because it never happened again!

Dogs are truly blessings. Our Jenny, a little Doxie, sounds like she's the most vicious creature when someone comes to the door, before I reassure her that it's someone she knows....I'd never be without a doggie. Hubby doesn't think it s quite proper for a dog to bark, but secretly, I've always trained them to alert and bark...
