Okay let me start by saying... I love coupons.. I might really be addicted? If possible ... dont send me to rehab.. i cannot be cured!
I started couponing only a few years ago... 2 years ago to be exact.. I didnt do any household shopping although I worked and could've but I never did. And the time came when I started buying actual household products! I usually just used what my mom bought and never really had "brand specific tastes" or anything... whatever was at home was good enough.. I'm not sure what exactly happened but I thought of coupons after the first few shopping trips.. usually I looked for a sale and at $3-4 it was considered "cheap" and so that year went by... but I then thought coupons exist dont they? Although my mom couponed ... I found it embarassing and would not partake..it just dawned on me that my mom had a limited supply in coupons only because she goes infrequently to stores and those 1-2 times every 2 weeks wasnt going to make her "stash" any bigger... so I looked online and RE-FOUND smartcanucks ( I joined years before, just never actually followed through with the deals)
So I couponed for a year.. I stocked up enough feminine hygiene products to last my KIDS... ( and I dont have kids..) I have a small room yet its over flowing with tampon boxes that could hit the ceiling... ( i joke , maybe about only 20-30 boxes) So I hoard tampons... knowing I will need them .. for some very long time in my life .
But heres where my addiction has gotten worse... I have hoarded enough soap to last 4-5 years... and I still want to buy more. I have enough shampoo to wash my hair for a year or more. Toothpaste count has past the 20's ... I have now taken over my moms room where if you even open a closet you're bound to find toothpaste, air fresheners, shampooo, tylenols, conditioner and even behind her bed i've advised her to stuff products LOL. I literally rolled on the floor for about 30mins laughing because of the amount of stuff... Here is my BRAG
I have now taken my shoppers optimum points virginity ( sorry for the explicity,..I couldn't find a better word )... WOOOO... So yesterday was the 18500 points wus $75 at sdm .. it was since monday and i was holding off on buying because I couldn't figure if I wanted to spend or hold off for the $50 . And with the great help i got on my thread the other day from annedougherty , luckbealday , sun_shine , and Anne Michele!! I made the purchase. At shoppers I passed by in hopes for some neat clearance , althought it wasnt $1 at sdm like everyone else I still bought these items
$2 herbal essence *5 - $2 off herbal essence from P &G
$3 pantene- $2 save.ca
$3 pantene- goes with 1 of the Herbal essence coupons
$6 for 2 miss vickies chips - used B2G1 free ( therefore 3 bags $6)
$6 miss vickies chips- Used B2G1 free ( therefore got 3 bags for $6)
$6.99 tylenol extra strength 100count - $5 coupon in box from previous purchase
$2.99 Breyers ( in hopes for checkout 51)
$5.99 simple nuggets.. [wanted janes but they sold out
]
$2 *2 soft soap pump ( item rang in at 1.67 instead ) - $1 coupon
$2 *2 alberto hairspray - $1.50 off each
$4.99 royal tiger paper towel - $1 snapsave - $1 coupon
$4 Axe for girls ( I want to try it!!!!!) - $2 save.ca - $1 checkout51
$1.77 * 4 quaker granola ( used a buy 4 get 1 free and got 5 boxes in total)
$4* 3 clean and clear body wash - $3 coupon
My total was $76.something before coupons which was $84 with tax
with coupons and free it came to $58 with tax
I used $42 in coupons
I got $3 checkout/snapsave + $5 coupon that came with stuff + 18500 points + 920 base points
I wish the total was lower but I got 2 bags of chips free and 1 granola box free aswell ... almost $9 products free. + I wanted to buy a lysol no touch for $4 clearance and use the $5 off coupon but the girl didnt allow it.. I just quickly exchanged for a bodywash to make sure the total was $75+
The cashier was super nice! I wish she was everywhere I shopped!!!! no sdm crabs this time
So I came home by bus and my mom was yelling at me although she partaked in the coupon shop that we had nowhere to put all this stuff and her credit card bill was going to be massive with all the shops I've been doing with her.. ( sometimes I think she would like to get out of the coupon cycling madness but I dont let her. Muahahaha)
We had a trade off , she keeps the items and I got the points :D although shes already at full capacity in her room . Im going to buy a sturdy shelf for stockpil soon since boxes are not doing my hoard any justice.. half the time I forget the stuff down there :$
So yes I hoard, yes I stockpile in boxes so my mom and aunt dont freak out over the crapload of stuff i have in the basement.. I saw the amount of chips we bought yesterday and thought I was running a store! ...but at $2 a bag... its cheaper than the "sale" $3 a bag

Awesome brag, shop, and welcome to stockpiling!
Lucky you to find a coupon for extra-strength Tylenol. The only ones I've gotten in them are the ones for body pain or back pain, etc., not for just the regular (wish they would have them!).

You are among friends , only we can understand your enthusiasm, we support you, encourage you to keep up the good work. However if you do feel like stuff will "go bad" before you get a chance to use it you could always make a small donation to a shelter. Many lucky people here do just that.
As for those who think you are cray cray, just ignore them.
They will go away shaking their heads and not understanding. Their loss.
Enjoy your stockpile.

oooh I know the feeling! So hard to pass up on a good deal, but they always come. There will always be sales/clearances and the coupons will always be there too. Sometimes, if I dont shop for a week, I feel like I've missed out on some awesome deal haha
I think it's a blessing in disguise to not have a basement, or else that would be completely devoted to couponing merch!

Great thread and deals. I enjoyed reading your story.
For me, the stockpile will probably never be big enough. So all the best with yours. Sounds like you're doing a great job!
Yay for stockpiles!!

Good Job!!! Just keep track of expiry dates and you will be fine. Try to take stock of what you have and what you use and don't buy/get for free anything until your at bare minimum levels. There will always be another sale and another coupon.

You are doing a good job & speak for some of us.Try to limit your shop on perishable items if they won't be consumed by or at least a week after the expiry date.
