Our DS is eight, quite active, doesn't have a daily shower or bath. He gets one every two or three nights, normally after a day where he swims.

Last night he had basketball class, didn't notice him being stinky. This morning his top sheet was a bit damp, but again, nothing smelly on him or the sheets (and it was not pee).

Tonight he was getting dressed for bed with DH, I came up a few minutes later and smelled some stink. I took a whiff of his pits and P-U! Tossed him in the shower, he smelled like BO!

I didn't expect an eight year old to need deodorant, but I think that's where we're headed, especially if warmer weather comes along sometime this summer. How old were your kids when they started wearing something on their armpits to tame the stink? I'm thinking I'm going to look for something a bit more natural and not so strong as Old Spice and that kind of thing.

Boys are just hitting puberty younger than ever. You are after an anti-perspirant, not so much a deoderant.
When we started our son on it, around 10, Degree was really good for him - the dry Sport one.

(So you know it's time for 'the talk', too.....)

+ 1 on the talk even if he has older sisters. lilPenguin(9) showers every night because he's a child who tends to get dirty quickly.

Some kids do seem to need more frequent showers than other. Mine as yet doesn't need a anti-perspirant along as he washes his pits on a morning and showers at night. I think that may change soon..

Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!
