i do have eczema since i was a little one and i know some of my starters like more stress ( i'm a ball of stress) , allergies ( contact as well as sinusitis) but, when there are no obvious causes.....i'm clueless......it appears and desappears like it came without any reasons....
so, someone might have a clue of something else that i'm not thinking of ??? please help !
the worst is, i can't take anti istaminic meds .....i've learn lately that it can be fatal ( up to causing death) to me with my healt issues

oh sorry you suffer with that condition Mia. I cannot think of other triggers. Is a food allergy a possible trigger?? Honestly too, with all the pollutants in food, water, air, it would not surprise me if these can also trigger eczema. What does your Dr. suggest other than stress being the cause?

I am a firm believer now that so many ailments are connected to what we ingest. I am not sure IF it was the beef or not, only you can eliminate certain foods and experiment with what foods you have eaten when the eczema starts up.
My latest kick is I have been viewing FMTV ( Food matters TV ) a series of web based shorts from various experts, ( I hate to use that word because I do not get tricked by a credential ) but anyways, these films give an eye opening look at what food we have available today and the evil Food Industry with all their dirty little secrets to keep us fat and unhealthy!
If you view a few of these you may see how we can change our health by changing what we eat.
I am still a work in progress of course, years of choosing what I thought was healthy foods has given me addictions I now need to overcome.

It is said that people with eczema are born with it - it is a genetically inherited condition
My son has it bad and get's it from his dad
Things that I have notice that irritate him are these -
Prolonged baths, sweating, fabrics for clothing, sand, and some soaps or detergents

Our grandson has had it pretty much from birth, and Peachy is right...he takes showers or fast baths, detergents and soaps used are made for sensitive skin, he's a "hot" little guy and if he overheats in bed at night, it can exacerbate his condition. I sympathize with anyone having to deal with this irritating condition, and wish I had answers for our grandson and for you.

Dont use fabric softener in the winter, or anytime for that matter. Apparently the chemicals are released more in the cold so skin is more irritated. Maybe try a homemade olive oil and white sugar scrub instead of soap. if skin is really sore just try putting olive oil on after a bath until skin improves then use the scrub to get clean. dont use ivory soap!

For some people in my family, fabrics can really aggravate eczema. My mom couldn't wear any socks that anything other than cotton - no spandex or Lycra even 5% or polyester etc. I reacted like that for years too. Certain soaps are an issue. Hormones have an impact - my eczema went away completely when I was pregnant.

I know this sounds really dumb but when I went Gluten Free for digestive issues my eczema disappeared, I would wake up in the night scratching the inside of my elbows where I would get it really bad, I used to use cortisone cream to control it, but now.........poof a pleasant advantage I guess not expected at all!!! Might be worth a try? Good Luck!

I had eczema. Started at around the age of 7 and had it till I was around 15 years old...on my belly, waists, chest, some part of the legs. I was never able to wear mini skirts or bikinis. Wearing clothes would hurt if they were touching the parts where I scratched during the night. I used to tie my hands so I wouldn't scratch. I saw 100s of dermatologists and tried a lot of different ointments, nothing worked.
Then a new doctor came to town. She moved with her husband and came from abroad. She had me try a combo of ointments and it started to go away. Till now the skin on my belly isn't the same. Not uniform in tone, but not as bad as before. I can wear a bikini without feeling uncomfortable.
I strongly believe my eczema started because of stress, at school and because my mum put a lot of pressure on me too (typical tiger mum). Had tuitions 3-4 times a day after school. Was never allowed to have playdates and boyfriends etc. It's only when I was around 15 and having good grades at school, my mum cut me some slack, had less tuitions, could hang out with friends etc. then it started to heal, coincidentally, it was around the same time I saw the new doctor and tried a new treatment.
My 4yr old son has eczema but that's because he's allergic to peanuts. He also has a hard time during spring with mold and ragweed (itchy cheeks and eyes, hives, etc)

Mine started a few years after I had the kidney/pancreas transplant. I went to 6 different specialists to try to figure out what to do (for me, it was my hands that were affected to the point I couldn`t use them). Finally, the last one figured out that it was being caused by one of my medications. Because I`ve got a whack of meds for the transplant, the combo interacted in a weird way with the cholesterol meds. Now, the doctors switch me back and forth between Lipitor and Crestor every year or so, and it seems to have worked. In the winter, I put vaseline on my hands and wear cotton gloves when I sleep, and this has managed to keep the flare ups to a minimum. I went through years of using steroid creams and every home remedy imaginable (peanut butter, olive oil, parafin wax, bees wax, honey, you name it I`ve tried it).
Hope this helps.

That's my experience as well. After being tested by a naturopath and I removed wheat and dairy from my diet, the excema went away. At the time, I also had chronic sinusitis that went away as well. The excema was caused by the wheat, and the sinusitis flared up the sinusitis.
That was seven years ago. Since then, whenever I've relapsed into eating wheat and dairy, and it's a sign I've overindulged in the wheat when the excema comes back. Staying off the wheat also means I can tolerate dairy better, with no recurrence of sinus problems.

The starter and aggravator is stress, but gluten definitely flares it up.
