Thread: SDM Chocolate Haul

Woo hoo! I went in Friday to use my new mailed out coupon for 1200 points on Lindt (100g) and in the clearance section were 30 bars of my favourite - sea salt, with $2 manager stickers on them! Soooo, 12 bars of chocolate at 50 cents a piece, plus points pretty much made my day! The clerk was concerned because the expiry was next week - those puppies are in the freezer now (except 2) and will be great in homemade ice cream and cookies!

No need to freeze -- unless it's the type to contain nuts that could go rancid, chocolate can remain at high quality for a couple of years past expiry. There's a place in the city here that clears out large volumes of Lindt chocolate past expiry, and normally expensive chocolates go for about $2.50 a box. The chocolates are perfect -- not even any white bloom on the chocolate.

Oh thanks! My fridge is full of expired yogurt, sour cream, pickles, the list goes on - I will never pay full price for some things but I was worried that the chocolate might go stale - like really nasty holiday chocolate, but I guess quality will tell! I'm going back tonight to see if anything else popped up - I live at a university and the students keep clear of the clearance section!
