    I had to share a funny story from earlier this afternoon....

    My FIL got some hearing aids about 10 years ago, but never wears them... He really does need them, and whenever he asks us to repeat ourselves, we remind him that he has hearing aid that will help. He eventually agreed to wear them, but soon noticed that his batteries were dead. My daughter replaced his batteries yesterday and he wore the hearing aids all day... He said that he couldn't believe how loud the kitchen clock ticked and had to move it out of the kitchen... He had to turn the fan off because it hummed and bothered him... He said that he could hear himself shuffling his feet on the floor... This afternoon his said to us that he really needs to be careful when he "toots"... All this time he thought they were silent!! Grandpa!!!

    on a more serious note....

    I went to my family doctor almost 2 weeks ago for a Hepatitis "B" needle. ( I already had Hep "A" long before the Twinrix vaccine came out for both A & B, and since hubby and I like to go away down south, I thought I should get it....) When I walked into his office and he logged onto his laptop, he congratulated me on turning 50 this year... by the time I left his office, I had my Hep B prescription, but also a requisition for complete blood work and he was sending out a referral for me for a colonoscopy (just because I'm 50). I had my colonoscopy today and the doctor removed a 3 cm pre-cancerous polyp... I had absolutely no symptoms....

    The prep yesterdat was a very sh*tty experience (pun intended) and I'm not looking forward to it again next year, but I am so glad that my doctor recommended it and that I agreed to go... PLEASE - if you're over 50 and you haven't gone yet - GO!!
