I think I solved the mystery of the sick dog. I gave her a piece of rawhide the other day (she gets one every couple of months as a special treat). I have a feeling that while I was distracted, the evil cat tried to steal it from her, so the dog swallowed it instead of chewing. Then, we got snow, the dog's favourite thing, which meant gulping down mouthfuls cause, OMG it's SNOW!!!!

Silly dog.

She's feeling fine, quite peppy, just has to use the facilities far more often than usual. Another day of the rice & broth routine & she'll be fine. As long as she's eating & drinking & her gums are pink, she'll be fine (went through a bad emergency with her a few years back, thought I was going to lose her).

Are you fighting the same miserable flu/cold nonsense you had before or is this something different? Hope you're feeling better soon, no one needs this nonsense at Xmas.

I cashed mine in back in November for a dvd, which finally came, which was good as it's a Christmas gift.

Now I am thinking I may save mine up until around next October and hope I have enough for a better prize. I joined last May and this will be the second time I cashed in, the first time for a book.

I`ve got 1 account & 1 for my parents (their address). On their account I`m saving up points & cashing out on mine. So far, I`ve gotten 2 dvds. a book & a dog sweater (too small for the dog, so my boy cat has a pink angora sweater, ha ha).

Please don't give your dogs raw hides, unless of course, you don't mnd paying $1500 to have them removed from their gut! if they survive! ... hey I am serious, I used to breed dogs ... or watch and as soon as they get smaller, chunk 'em (not the dog the rawhide!) There are other options out there!

I agree kekes, I hate rawhide. Many years ago I almost lost a dog. It had gotten soft and she swallowed it and it was blocking her airway. Thank god she was a large breed and I could actually see it as I had to reach down her throat and remove it. Thank God I was home. My brother lost a dog that choked to death on rawhide.

Don't know what I was thinking. She rarely gets rawhides or any other chew, just because she ploughs through them far too quickly. I stupidly gave one too her, then let myself get distracted (if I remind her, she will chew slowly). Usually, the only thing I give her to chew is a popsicle (broth frozen in a margarine container, gets her chewing & is low cal).

This silly dog actually chewed the "indestructible" black kongs as a pup - the store was good enough to replace 2, assuming they were defective - they didn't believe a 50lb lab mix could do that if their big ol' Rottie couldn't. I didn't have the heart to take back the third she destroyed.

Tried bones when she was younger - she ate a knucklebone in 10 minutes (my friend's 100lb shepherd took 3 weeks to chew most of it & he was an enthusiastic chewer, so I thought it would be safe).

Tried Greenies - I hold it tightly, & she gets about 1cm to chew on, then it gets put away til the next day.

Surprisingly, she was never a destructive puppy, except for the things I gave her to chew.

Kekes, what breed did you have?

TheTick, wow that must have been scary. So sorry about your brother's dog.

Lesson learned, the rest of the rawhide has been tossed. On the plus side, she's now feeling better, although she is sulking that she's not getting her usual dinner.

Hi everyone..Well I woke up at 7 am on Wed to it starting to snow. 16 and 1/2 hours of NON-STOP SNOW! Well we were cut off from the rest of the world for a day and a half.. Roads are finally open. It was 19 at 6:30 AM today.. I will post pics later..

Thanks for all the words.. I will have to read everything I missed....

Ok popped back in for a few mins.. Baking cookies all day long.. Now doing dinner, Lasagna, garlic bread & Caesar salad.

In Palmdale downtown got 10 inches of snow.. Where I live we got 12-14 inches..Have to take dinner out. Will try and and post stuff later or tomorrow..

Not sure about the 12/18 words, Amthomp... I entered them the day they came up, but for SURE they were supposed to expire on 12/18.

Guess we aren't getting new weeklies next week, since the new ones are almost 2 weeks from now expiring.

So tired... I think I should probably head to bed. Poor DH hasn't stopped working for a week straight. And he has to work the whole week next week too

I lurvs you all... hopefully all of you are getting your holiday stuff done, and settling in for some celebrating. We are supposed to get the much touted 20cm of snow in the morning, so we'll see. Hate seeing DH drive in that crap though!
