The Ontario elementry school teachers have just confirmed there will be some sort of strike action next week. It's barely been 2 years since the last one(Dec 2012).

    Double rant
    First, it's FREAKING SNOWING AGAIN!!!!!!
Second, apparently I have to make sure Jaeger pees before I do. He peed in my kitchen while I was in the bathroom. Do you have any idea how much a Mastiff can pee? It looked like a swimming pool exploded!!!!!

It's ridiculous. It doesn't really affect me much because I'm a stay at home mom, but DD is graduating grade 6 this year and now her camp trip, orientation at her new school and graduation ceremony are in jeopardy. And they're apparently canceling the province wide standardize testing.
Plus after googling the strike for 2 days I can't find out what they're striking about.

yup that sounds like last year here... year end trips were cancelled, anything that involved teachers working over their set hours were cancelled (and i'm talking about morning trips too were cancelled because if they are out of the school the teachers don't get their 15 min break at recess so year end morning trips to the beach or butterfly gardens were cancelled) the grade 12 grads got all their grad stuff but your kindy grads, your transitioning school grads (here it's k-5, 6-9, 10-12) all cancelled provincials were written but everything else was pretty much just dropped hell i didn't even get a year end report card last year!

There should be more information released to the parents/public after today. The school boards were to be given that information today. I am an elementary school teacher, and all I can say is that very little that students/parents will notice will be happening next week. We don't know at all how long the first phase of things will last and what will change after that I have no clue about. Provincial testing may be affected, a lot depends on the principals/admin, but provincial testing is not used for grades etc, so if it were to be canceled it might not be a bad thing.

when our schools went on strike last year and into the start of this school year (here in BC) it started with rolling strikes then turned into full out strikes at all schools... provincials did happen because the grades can be tied in with graduation and effect university but they were run by administration NOT teachers (since they technically were not on strike), same with grade 12's getting a proper report card the teachers legally has to submit those grades but for everything lower it wasn't done my daughter's school didn't even manage anything for a year end.. it simply just ended.. it also didn't help that during all this time teachers were also packing up their classrooms and boxes everywhere lining the halls because the following school year(this current year) the school was undergoing seismic upgrades

FML! I am getting so freaking sick of eBay sellers not getting their crap together with the shipping costs. The last 3 sellers have messaged me saying " oh, I didn't know you were from Canada and I need more $ for shipping" Clearly my shipping address shows where I live.

One kids sprains her ankle and the rest have sympathy pains.

DD has been limping around for 2 days and today she was sent home because she refused to put any weight on it.

Sit her down and turns out she just wanted to come home (and get attention). She's walking fine now and doesn't want to go see the doctor.

Guess quite a few kids in the class have mysterious aches and pains since the sprained ankle incident.

I was outside and the people delivering flyers were out and walked past my house. I asked why we weren't getting them and they said we aren't on the flyer list and never were even tho we've been getting flyers since these people took over and they delivered the crappy flyers(Lowes, Sears, Home Hardware) to us yesterday. Its cool, I love dragging a toddler who hates grocery shopping to multiple stores.
