OTTAWA – The federal NDP is encouraging parents who don’t need the newly enhanced universal child care benefit to donate the money to the party.
The party’s latest fundraising email blast urges supporters to follow the example of Ella, a financially-secure single mother who intends to donate her UCCB windfall to the NDP.

I am wondering if donating the money to a local social service agency where young children are given food, may be a better idea

Wow. Just. Wow. "Financially-secure." I do not know a single family that is financially-secure enough to donate this money (some use it for child care, some use it so a family member can stay home and not work, some even use it for an RESP, there are some that probably use it for cigarettes).

I agree with Shwa, I would not be donating to a party, I would be donating to children who are not benefiting from this money in their homes.
