we have mostly corelle that my mom gave us when we got married - mismatched but we didn't care and still don't. we don't entertain. they serve their purposes. mom also gave us cutleries.
my MIL has old china sets that she inherited from her mom which will be passed down to my hubby who's the only child. i don't think we'll actually going to use them then just display or stowed away

Did a big purge when we moved 3 years ago.
For everyday -8 settings of white dishes (IKEA)
For special 16 settings of Wedgwood Cornpoppy. It is no longer produced. Missing a few pieces.
I am now using the good china more often. Don't know if anyone will want it after me and it seems a shame to keep something for "good" and it never get used.

i think we don't have to worry to much for our mismatched dishes ....DH and I went to a restaurant in US, it was crowded and
i remember almost every dishes didn't match....and the lady asked us how we wanted the meat in our hamburgers
i was so surprised she asked that,
when we know the danger of eating rare burger patties ....
Thank's to DH who told me the grumpy Garfield was not at all representative of who i am
