I probably mentioned that my 23 year old daughter recently bought her own house, not with a husband, not with her boyfriend, all by herself (I guess you can tell how proud I am)!! Anyways, she used the odd coupon but not much, I started telling her about some deals, started giving her tips etc. Told her to check out smartcanucks, co51, snap, flip, talked about price matching etc. She did it a few times and was amazed at the savings. I met with her yesterday, we made a list, and we headed out for our deals, we made an unplanned stop at the thrift store (Salvation Army), I'm leaving for Riviera Maya in a few weeks and was looking for summer things. Well almost everything was 50% off, housewares, women, men apparel, books etc. My daughter picked up a butcher block Henkel knife set for $3.50 cents ( was missing 2 knives), they looked almost new, and there is a lifetime warranty on these even if you don't have your receipt. She bought a beautiful floor vase $3.00, I wanted it for myself!! A bunch of odds and ends a scale, etc. Then we went to LCBO to pick up the holiday food and drink book, quite a few cheese, hummus, dips coupons. Finally we get to Superstore, my daughter is more techie than I she has everything on her phone, but I still have back up with the flyers..started price matching 4 pkg peppers $2.00 at giant tiger, avocados, green grapes, high liner fish salmon, not breaded on sale at SDM for $9.99 was $13.99 at superstore, then we saw a few packages with coupons with pins, buy 2 get a box free, they will mail her a coupon, plus I had $1.00 off of any high liner product. So, $8.99 for 4 salmon fillets, plus a free box on the way.. Nestle water 1.88 was $3.97, Classico pesto and bruschetta sauces, she bought some spaghetti sauce too, 3/5.00 the the $1.00 coupons, always pads, tampons, was on sale 2/$7.00 had $1.00 coupons plus co51, black diamond cheese pm metro $4.44 less $1.00 coupon, she bought 3 their regular price was $6.99!!! Tostitos $2.47 at food basics $3.97 at Superstore, the Kraft salad dressing was .44 cents expiring in 3 months..a bunch of other things I can't remember, then at the cash we got the deal of the day, or week was the halls for $1.98, had $2.00 coupon free. My daughter saved over $40.00 with coupons and price matching and she will still gets a box of fish free and all her CO51 things she couldn't believe it!!! I told her it seems like a lot of work at the beginning but it's well worth it!! She also taught me something, I used to use the flip app, but didn't find it that useful but since I used it there are a lot of new feature it has all the flyers, all the coupons, and if you search for an item it will tell tell you were that item is on sale plus it tells you if there's a coupon and you can go and print it, pretty amazing. Also, when you're looking at the flyers it has a little money sign that means there's a coupon for that product, really easy!! Once again, sorry this is so long!!!

Congrats to your daughter it's a wonderful feeling to buy your first home. I was 25 when my partner and I purchased our first home. I am now 26. We used coupons and sales to make a stock pile so we could save money for a down payment. We also used the cash back like checkout 51 snapsaves ect. Sounds like you have taught your daughter to shop and save like a smartcanuck. Thank you for sharing this AMAZING brag

Congratulations for introducing your daughter to a lifetime of savings! And she "got it". You are right, it is alot of work, but the benefits far outweigh the time put in.
This is a "proud mama" moment
