No idea about celery growing. Saw an article about what cauliflower growing could entail (hardware, pests): http://www.thestar.com/life/2016/01/...sonia-day.html

Plan to have a HUGE garden this year, just cuz of the prices these days.. Hope to have green beans, cauliflower, potatoe's, tomato's, carrots, strawberries, turnip, squash.. And what ever else I can find to plant..
Just hoping the wildlife like deer and brear and coons don't rob me again..

I tried celery last year. The ribs were pencil thin.

I know I will be growing string beans, for sure. Just thinking of what else to grow.

I tried growing celery from the root. It was exciting for a while. Then the base started to rot so tried planting and it died.i have heard celery is hard to grow.

String beans are like zucchini, you can have too much! Unless your whole family is keen on the beans, just plant one or two plants of beans--I used to have to pick beans as a teen for Mom and there were way too many bean plants in the garden.
I'd like to grow snow peas or sugar snap peas but the plants always get that rusty look within 4 weeks so tops look green but the area near roots look withered.

Cucumbers are good if you keep up with watering or watch the leaves go brown while cukes look like golfballs trying to elongate (my situation last year when I forget to water every day or every other day).

I have a area beside my house that gets some sun, but mostly shade. I have a smallraisedbed there...... about 6 feet by 4feet.
I growlettuce, spinach, and snow peas there for most of the summer.....
it works well because it is shaded....

I plan on planting pole beans this year . Either the fresh beans are over priced slimmy and gross or the packaged ones are so laced with preservatives they last in the fridge much longer than any fresh bean should. Sort of suspicions. I would love to grow herbs. But my previous experience freezing dill have not been successful. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Milk is lasting much longer as well. I guess you have to be mindfull of any manufactured foods these days

have you tried to dry out the dill? I have dried chives and put them in an air tight container.

Walmart's Garden Centre has potted succulents and some other hardy plants in stock. Seed displays are not yet in but it was a treat to see one outdoor living patio display setup in the middle of the centre.

Last year was my first time gardening. I don't have much space so I converted the flower beds in my side yard. This year, I think I will convert some of the front flower bed as well. I get a lot of fresh produce from the local farmers market, so I'm looking forward to it starting back up in the spring!!

    I'd like to plant:
Tomatoes, Peppers (Bell, Jalapeno and Habenaro), Onions, Green Onions, Potatoes, Carrots, Radishes and then some herbs. With the mild winter we have had, my Rosemary bush may have survived the freeze. If I can find the space, I'd love a cuc plant and pumpkin.
