List of Current Mail in Rebates

I got 3 rebate checks today and it seems that they paid their max. amount + tax.
1- For finish dish detergent max amount was $8 (I spent $8.29 before tax and got $9.04)
2-Resolve in wash stain remover max amount was $8 (spent $7.19 before tax and got $8.12)
3- Airwick I spent $8.79 before tax and got back $9.93 but it was under limit already.
So In my case they grant max. limit before tax and than added tax in it even if it exceeds that limit. Is this right or only by mistake?

I've noticed the same thing on my last few rebate cheques as well. Happy surprise!

They are correct. The maximum amount of the rebate is before taxes, so they will add the taxes on top. If I remember, the wording is something like up to $X.XX maximum, plus applicable taxes. The taxes have never been included in the maximum amount.

It's supposed to make it easier to check the cost before purchase because taxes vary by province.
