Thread: Outlet store for evening gown to attend wedding
-
Tue, May 10th, 2016, 10:01 AM #1
I'm looking for a store in the GTA (prefer west GTA) that sells evening gowns for reasonable prices ($100-150 or less) for a wedding I have to attend.
Any suggestions would be appreciated as I don't want to break the bank for a dress that will be worn once. Thanks. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

I was just in the Bay @ Square One and they have all the evening gowns on 40% off.
Friends don't let real friends pay full price.

Check the website for The Bay, might be a limited time sale, but yeah a nice deal on dresses.

If you can find a Laura outlet, they have nice fancy dresses at a good price - even the Laura stores will sometimes have sales. You can try Davids Bridal as well they have an evening gown section and sometimes have good markdowns, my mom bought her dress for my wedding there reg 400 she got it on sale for 150.
Good Luck!

Wasn't there a store in Square One that sold such dresses for reasonable prices? Does anyone know its name? It wasn't a well-known chain of stores.

If you have a Sears outlet store you may find something cheap. A few years ago both sisters in law found long gowns for a wedding for $29. Probably hit and miss. Also my neighbour found a fancy dress for her sons wedding at a consignment store. Was quite reasonable. Again probably very hit or miss.

I guess I'll go to Dixie Mall and check out the Laura outlet store. Hope I'll find something.

There is also a rental service RentfrockRepeat ... I've heard good things from ladies using this service especially for black tie events or weddings. They have a location in Toronto where you can go for fitting, and the website shows all the dresses they have available by date, price range, size, designer, etc. Here's the website: https://rentfrockrepeat.com/

I second the consignment or even secondhand (some specialize in certain decades) shops for one-time wear dress shopping. Best if you are a sewist and can change buttons or trim to make the dress one you love.
If you do get a dress from an outlet, consider making a wrap or jacket to wear the dress for other occasions.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.
