Everything I bake with No Name butter turns out wonderfully. There are bad batches of brand name products too lol.

I have yet to take advantage of this offer. I plan to do it before the weekend for the kitchen bags and chocolate chips. Both things we use and products we like.
Friends don't let real friends pay full price.

Here are photos showing the codes for dairy products.
First photo is NN cottage cheese. Second is Ga Lea. You can see number is the same.
The third photo is of Lactancia butter. The fourth is Gay Lea. I don't have any NN butter at the moment.
As you can see, the numbers can be in different spots on different brands.

This info about the number in the oval and related company is all new to me - thanks @super807 ! Have you actually seen the 441 on the NN butter? Because it is possible that Gay Lea makes some NN products but not all.
Also, I did some research and a company can have multiple numbers in the same category (e.g. dairy) and also use different numbers in different parts of Canada.
I was just going to say that now I'm going to be checking the # on all my diary items (and p.s. there's a similar coding system for eggs!). And then i went to my fridge to check and sure enough the 2 cans of whip cream I have in there are both 524 which is Gay Lea - one is indeed the Gay Lea brand but the other is a Quebec company brand! That was interesting to learn.
However, the ingredient list on each can is slightly different. For example, the Gay Lea can lists 'natural flavor' the other brand lists 'artificial flavor - and also has additional ingredients (additives/chemicals?). Also the cap on the other brand is inferior to the one on the Gay Lea brand product. So while Gay Lea may make the NN butter, it doesn't mean it's the same quality as the butter they make under their own brand
But what great info to have!

Don't get fooled by the word 'natural' -- both artificial and natural flavors are made by “flavorists” in a laboratory by blending either “natural” chemicals or “synthetic” chemicals to create flavorings. Natural flavors are no better in quality than artificial - but to get the natural flavor, the process is much more elaborate, so it's more costly.

Point taken - but the 'natural' flavor does use natural sources, so there is that difference but I understand what you're saying.
So it's more expensive to make the Gay Lea brand one yet it sells for less than the other Quebec brand (the Gay Lea's regular price here is cheaper than the other brand on sale!). It's crazy.Last edited by Silk; Sun, Jul 9th, 2017 at 08:53 PM.

If I shop from tomorrow I have some serious stacking that I can do, but I need to figure out the math:
