Good afternoon my Q friends. Happy Hump Day.
I am going even more CRAZY now because the elevator in my building is still not working so all the disabled people are stuck in here. If there was a fire we would be totally screwed. It has been down since last Monday. I heard they need a part but can't get it. Woodgreen Community Housing are cheap s so doesn't surprise me. I feel like going to the newspaper or TV people to let them know. I have the Q Canada Day picnic and the Doobies concert to go to this weekend so they better have it fixed by Friday. Karl said he would carry me down the stairs. Thank God I'm only on the third floor. Only time will tell. Positive vibes. Peace and Love

Thanks Jester for the info. I talked to the building management and she said that the elevator people were going to just fix the broken part then realized they couldn't so they are waiting for a new part. The company that installed the new elevator only three years ago are a Swiss company so this could take awhile to get the part. We are screwed.

Special weather statement continues as heatwave arrives

Crank up the a/c and then do yourself a favour and just leave it on. We have a special weather statement in effect again today - this time ahead of a heat wave that is expected to stick around until early next week. It all starts today with the mercury set to top 29 degrees but feeling more like 34, and feeling like 37 tomorrow. Global News Chief Meteorologist Anthony Farnell tells us things really heat up on Saturday as it will feel like the mid 40's. Temperatures are expected to hover around 32 until at least next Wednesday

Council approves $22 million in new spending to accelerate road-safety plan

$22 million in new spending – that’s how much Toronto city council has green lighted for Vision Zero; a strategy aimed at making Toronto roads safer for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. The new cash is expected to accelerate the plan with the implementation for things like new speed bumps and red light cameras. Toronto police issued more than 600 tickets to drivers during a recent weeklong campaign as part of vision zero.

World Cup group finale today

England plays Belgium in its final group game at the World Cup today in Russia. Both teams have already advanced to the Round of 16 and the match will only determine the Group G finishing order. The winner of Group G gets a date with Mexico in the next round while second place gets either Columbia or Japan. Also today Poland and Japan play, as well as Senegal versus Colombia. Both of those matches at are at 10am. England plays at 2pm with the other afternoon gaming pitting Panama against Tunisia.
