    Although we do have our difficulties and complaints each day,honestly we live in a country that is the envy of the world(Reality check it is no longer the U.S. despite them blowing their own horns).So is there one thing that defines us or a collective of many?

    I will go first and say Freedom,notwithstanding Nanaimo Bars,beautiful scenery,and a winning NBA team(despite none of the players being Canadian)

    @Skippy ....nice thread!

    Chest pumped up and sticking out!! We ARE Canadian!! And sooooo humble and modest too....lol.
    I think what makes us wonderful is we share......we share deals so others can get in on them, we share our experiences both bad and good so others can avoid possible mishaps or head right on to create some feel good moments.
    Also we really care! I believe we have true empathy for anyone suffering. Not the phony " thoughts and prayers " kind we often see after insane school shootings in the USA.

    Happy Canada Day everyone!

    I agree that it's totally the freedom!

    On a more personal side, the openness of immigration and refugee policies over the years. That is what brought my grandparents and my nine year old dad from Ukraine, just before the Holodomor genocide (enforced famine) of the 1930s.

    Then my husband also escaped communism, in Yugoslavia, and emigrated to Canada when he was 25.

    My husband's younger brother and his family came as refugees from the war in Croatia. Two other brothers had emigrated as well.

    And, of course, simply the land of Canada. I revel in the beauty of being in the midst of the prairies!
    Nothing beats the gorgeous prairie sky!!
