they are clearing the way for their reduced size cans of 515mL

If Campbells is doing this, then other soup manufacturers will soon follow.
Keep your eyes peeled, as most grocers are going to clear out their inventory ASAP for the new stock.

I was just about to highlight the Campbell's Soup downsizing, but you beat me to it. Will simply add that I'd noticed a lot of near empty shelves of not only Chunky but also the 540ml cans of their Ready-to-serve style as well. It reminded me of the early Covid days when a lot of things were being bought up and hoarded. This time it seems it has nothing to do with supply chain issues, just Greed by another Major food producing Company !!!

My wife and I regularly share a can of the 540ml soups for lunch; so the reduction is "only" 25ml or 4.6%. Will it make a difference? Maybe not immediately, but how long till the 500ml cans appear .... let's hear it for 450ml !!!! But wait, much healthier for us, with less sodium, and fat ! So THANK YOU, Campbell's for caring!

The soon-to-be obsolete 540mL cans are probably a result of a 10% reduction in 600mL cans from the previous shrinkflation.

To be fair, some products are still fighting the shrink-flation trend; such as 1kg No Name peanut butter can still be found at $3 and the occasional Delissio 550g pizza for $3.

Anyone else see items that are trying to hold the line on shrink-flation?

Last week's CBC Marketplace episode "How to survive inflation" talks about shrinkflation. It also mentioned how some products changed their ingredients as a cost-cutting measure, such as E.D. Smith pumpkin pie filling adding water and reducing the amount of vegetable oil:

Bought a box of Multigrain Wheat Thins at Shoppers yesterday for $2.29 sale! Noticed box is now 200g (down from 300g). I obviously have not been buying this product often enough to have noticed the shrinkflation sooner.

Bathroom tissue-Kirkland Signature rolls in those 30 roll packages (sold at Costco). Less tissue per roll: from 425 sheets per roll to 380.

I was restocking BT upstairs. I saw a new big bag of BT downstairs and started to pull out 6pks and noticed the shrinkage!

Saw a sale price for margarine (can't remember the brand) of $1 and thought the price had returned to 2019 levels only to realize that the tub size was only 212g. That's less than half the normal 454g (pound) size. I can't even remember seeing a tub size that small for margarine; most of them are 454g or larger. Looks like producers continue to try and pull a fast switcheroo.
