Hubs received a $100 gift card for a local restaurant. When I checked the online menu I see they have 15% off for seniors on the first Tuesday of the month so that will stretch it even further. He also got small gift cards from Starbucks and Timmies which I stretched by buying ground coffee rather than cups of coffee.

My friend spent $350 to order in Xmas dinner from a fancy hotel downtown!! She said it was delicious but too much food. I spent 25 and it fed us for a week. In her defence she did just have a knee replacement but I would have put the hubs and adult kids to work. Just could not bring myself to pay that much.

On a roll today-stopped at Shell to buy gas and it said 3 cents per litre off with a CAA card. It took 8 cents a litre off and I filled up for 92.9. I didn't hang around to ask them why!
Then free admission at the Banff park gates-of course I did buy lunch out but used my mornings savings!

I submitted my receipt yesterday and already received validation of my receipt this morning and, a few hours later, confirmation that I can now order 5 books. I ordered 5 copies of the same book, the board book copy of Eric Carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" which normally retails for $14.99. There are a variety of hard-cover, paperback and board books to choose from but I use this one as part of a baby gift package for new moms. I already received verification that my orders have been confirmed and I should be receiving my 5 books within 3 - 5 weeks.

Last night, I celebrated NYE at Canadian Brewhouse with a $20 ticket. In return, I get a pound of wings for free every week in 2026. That is equivalent to about $1000 menu price or a 50:1 return on my $20 investment. This is the second year I've done it and I am impressed at how aggressively this chain wants my patronage. When they work this hard to entice me, I try to accommodate. Today, they gave me another 'free' poutine promo (with a 2-drink purchase). Normal $14 for about $3 is a going to get me back in their doors.

Sobeys has another Kraft/Heinz promotion, this time running from January 1 - February 11, 2026. When you purchase 6 participating products, you'll receive 1,000 Scene points ($10 value). Today, I did this:

6 x Original Kraft Dinner @ $1.99 each = $11.94

earned 1,000 points/$10 value

So, after points value, it works out to $1.94 for 6 boxes of Original Kraft Dinner or about 32 cents each.

I did 2 separate transactions of 6 x Original Kraft Dinner each in order to get 2 x 1,000 points.

This is a great way to stock up the food banks on Kraft Dinner!
