@Frugalbigmama sounds like your Saturday has gone pretty swimmingly so far. I like the way you shopped, lets call it mix and match.
Buying items that will go with something you already have at home. Meals made simpler!
There was momentary joy seeing an increase in my income monies ( pensions ) only to get hit by increases in the water/solid waste bill,
our interim tax bill and yesterday both the house and vehicle insurances went up. We've been CLAIMS FREE on both of those, so WTF??
    GRRR!
Today it was the oil change, and the bill reflected JUST that! There were no new items discovered for attention/repair, so I drove back home
almost happy? lol. They'll get us next time I just know it. I am not much of an alcohol enthusiast ( glass of wine here and there ) BUT totally
out of character I bought a boxed set from FreshCo of Espresso martinis. 2 each of Salted Caramel and Spiced Mocha.Came with a nice mug too.
Happy Valentine's Day to me! ha ha

    Good Morning Everyone,
    Happy Sunday.

Yesterday I had one of those days where I just kind of did whatever I wanted. I started on some of my prep for the week as it was feeling a bit overwhelming this week. I don't know I feel like I am out of my routines which is my fault and I just feel like I am in some sort of a funk.

I started by making the ricotta gnocchi as the recipe says you can make it and keep it in the fridge so this way I had no excuse to no make the chicken parm for dinner. The gnocchi was so easy to make, only things was I should have make them smaller, so now I think I will make a batch of two for the freezer to use up some of this Costco size tub of Ricotta.

Then I made some more spreadables which are needed since I am obsessed with Toast with Jam and Butter right now.

Next was a crustless cheesecake, I wanted to make this back at Christmas but I ate the berries and you cannot use frozen and since I have some blackberries left from last week and grabbed raspberries this week seemed like now was the time. we haven't tried it yet as it needed to refrigerate overnight so we will have it tonight for dessert. Took almost double the baking time so I am a little worried but hopeful.

I cut up the Cantaloupe I bought, thinking I should make a fruit salad.

Did some general tidy up of the kitchen and then it was time for dinner.

After dinner I worked on my budget, yes I am behind and was still in January, it is clear we had bad weather, my spending was so low which I am not complaining about but was kind of surprised how under budget I was.

Now we will see where today takes me.

    Happy Sunday Everyone.

lol^^ for being in a funk I think you did plenty already today @SassyAshley
I mean tbh, you had me at crust-less cheesecake! I've not even done my pets stuff yet.
Truth be told, I've been getting the side eye from Hamlet for about 20 minutes now so I better get moving.

Happy Sunday all PLUS that extra Family Day for a 3 day weekend!

Thank goodness for a long weekend! I’ve been working non stop ( at least really close to it) for a few weeks so much needed.

Since we hit up Costco on Friday after work ( only spent $130 to top off staples) the plan was to just relax all Saturday but nope. I committed to just a quick vacuum and changing the bedding but it escalated rather quickly into a full on deep spring like cleaning! Blinds, baseboards, behind furniture except the tv since I need a helper. After washing the floors and baseboards I only have 2 loads of laundry to wash and finish then I’m done.

It's not like it was dirty but it gets dusty unfortunately. Anyways it felt amazing after and to go to bed and wake up to a pristine cleaned home makes me feel so peaceful. I’d been struggling a bit with being so busy with work, family stressors, and seeing bits of visual clutter were starting to really make me stressed so by rage cleaning and organizing I feel at peace. It’s truly amazing how much a tidy and organized space can make you feel.

Now the rest of the long weekend (sun, mon, tues) are for just relaxing (and working out). I hope everyone has a great and restful long weekend.

I need to go to Costco today because I found a nice black jacket for my cruise but the Costco I was in did not have my size. This is probably a crazy idea. Then off to Sobeys for a few things, I have a crazy offer of spend 25 cents get 500 points and they have asparagus on sale. my fil comes every Sunday for dinner so this will be nice with the stuffed pork tenderloin I am making.
Friends don't let real friends pay full price.

Sometimes I just have to laugh at myself.

I went down the basement to tidy up the pantry, in the last 2 weeks I have bought:
    3 x 10lb Potatoes
    1 x 5lb Sweet Potatoes
    2 x 10lb Onions

Plus I had some random pantry things to put away. I went down and put everything away and thought, I should clean the floor but said "nope, not today."

I then came upstairs and decided to empty the front hallways and deep clean it because there were salt marks everywhere.

So instead of cleaning the pantry floor which would have taken me maybe 2 minutes, no instead I come up empty the front hallway, decided if I am going to vacuum I should do the stairs first, vacuum, removed the mat vacuumed again and then mopped. Makes total scene LOL.

I have some onions I need to use so thinking one night this week I will make French Onion bake. Also have some potatoes to use so thinking a roast chicken. Both of these are from the new bags, they have marks or are a little soft.

Lunch was more of the Costco chicken with the leftover Mashed Potato bake. The rest of the chicken will go in the freezer.

Now to figure out dinner for tonight.

    Good Morning Everyone,
    Slow start this morning.

Although, I did slowly start to clean the upstairs hallway mainly because we needed toilet paper so might as well put it away, Then I did the kleenex because I hate putting it away, it goes on a top shelf that is awkward to get too. So got those done but there is still so much more that needs to go away.

Last night I ended up making French Onion Pasta Bake for dinner, Mom suggested Pasta and since I had the onions to use, seemed like the perfect idea. I used all but one onion that needed to be used.

We had the cheesecake after dinner, it is a little sweet for us, next time I will lower the amount of the sugar used, but it is the best part of the cheesecake. I used Blackberries and Raspberries but honestly, I prefer Raspberries.

Not sure about tonight yet, thinking maybe Steak Sandwiches with Savoury Butternut Squash but we will see because that is also an easy weeknight meal.

I find we always start the week well, but it is how we end the week I need to focus on now.

I was working on my budget last night, some areas are a little higher than January because I was finally able to do some running around but we are still well within budget. I was a little worried about my stock up budget because Costco was so high and a new flyer came out today but there is only one thing in the flyer we need, one of Mom's supplements so I will grab those but we should be able to stay on budget.

It is odd we had some extra cost this month, Costco was higher, Mom's car but having a budget and seeing we have the $$$ really helps. Not that I want to spend the $$$ but seeing we have them there really helps. I hear so many people say how they feel a budget is so restricting but having one and putting it on paper is the exact opposite for me.

Although I will admit, I was a little disappointed with our take-out in January, we only got take-out twice but I try to aim for once so see that was a little disappointing but we were still still within budget. I do budget for twice a month but mentally I aim for once.

Although I think in the near future I am going to need some shawarma from the place close to the plant. Good news is I have been booked into the plant for 2 days next month so one of those days I will pick it up on the way home. It is so good but also so budget friendly, hugh portion and the price is super reasonable.

Alright, I better get going, still no expectation for the weekend so we will see where it takes me.

Happy Monday & Family Day for those in Ontario.

    The insurances called.
My father had to explain the cops did not take his side of the story.
    Apparently it is normal???

We have to wait for the cops files that can take up to 4-8 weeks before we know who is fault and if the insurance will paid the damages.....

    None -sense

How my dad is suppose to drive with a scrap damaged car.

    For the pills.grocery etc....
