Let's just make a swap Wednesday evening Kim, and whoever can show up can! If we could meet later so I can put kids to bed first, that would be really great. Say 7:30 or even 8:00? If that doesn't work, we could meet earlier, and I will just bring a kid with me.
I will bring what you are looking for. Anyone interested in coming (to Deerfoot Meadows on Wed. evening) could post what they are looking for too...
Personally, I am looking for banana coupies, head and shoulders, $3 off hamburger, armstrong cheese, and big wish is flinstone vitamins.

"Monkey - I would start by checking out the neighbourhood school. There really is something to be said about kids going to school with the other kids in the neighbourhood! ... You may have an amazing school right in your backyard!"
I struggle with this too. Want to my son in the best school that I can afford. But that will mean out of the community. I was bussed out of my neighborhood to go to what we were told was the "best" (but not private) school at the time. The next 3 years were really hard and though it all worked out by HS, the happiest times of my childhood were those with the neighborhood Kids. So I will be looking at the one within walking distance (Riverbend elementary) first for those very reasons.
Though I do wish my kid(s) to have a second language. Wish I did! I took a bit of french but it wasn't enough.Last edited by kimcool; Mon, Mar 21st, 2011 at 07:55 PM.

Would you mind asking her how long they were on the waitlist for? and what grades they were in when they started attending?
It says on their site that the waitlist can be 3 to 5 years! I would want my kids to stay in the same school, so if they are not accepted by kindergarten, I wouldn't take them out of a school they were already attending. Thanks hun
I think I might just put them on the waitlist and see what happens
, one weird thing though is that the child has to be 5 years old by sept 30 of the school year to start kindergarten otherwise they have to wait until the next year to start. It will be fine for my DD whose bday is in July, but my DS has a Dec bday, so that would mean he would be almost 6 before starting school...not sure how I feel about that! I liked the idea that my kids would only be a year apart in school, but with this rule it would be 2 years apart.

ill ask them today
ah its no prob at all
i have a question for you guys as some of you may know DH and i live in an apartment in aspen we are renting the place and on Feb 28 the radiator exploded literally flooding our entire apartment + damaging 8 other units we dont have insurance but the problem wasnt our fault the builders plumber didnt fully screw in the pipe the plumber that came in was shocked when he saw the pipes at the time i had to call the firemen to come in cause 45 min elapsed and nobody showed up and i was afraid that a fire might start in someones unit now they are going to charge me for that and well i think im not sure but our electrical things (printer, pc, modems etc...) were placed on the floor (due to small space) and the water did touch them all so i assume they are not working anymore and the builders insurance is not going to cover for any damaged items DH and i are not asking for a lot just for them to replace whatever is damaged nothing more nothing less what should we do?

Just one quick tip - if you have any electronics that got wet, remove any batteries aasap and let the units dry out completely for a few days. If you do that quickly enough, you shoudl be able to use them again. the key is getting the batteries out asap (ie laptop cell phone etc)

ok this is weird.... after they are as dry as you can get them... put them in a garbage bag with rice in them and close it up... might take a while but the rice is supposed to draw out the moisture... (neices with cell phones and the family clumsy gene) may not work but sometimes it does

That sucks Turkish, I hope for your sake they all dry out and are working! Lesson for everyone else...if you don't have insurance...get it!!!! You just never know what could happen! It's cheap compared to the cost of losing/replacing everything you own.

Another thing to try...put the electronics (battery seperate) in the same small container with the the poison thing you have in the shoe box/purses etc. Sorry I don't know what is it called, but that tiny packet thing. Good luck

I tried this today as both DH and I may be going on strike next month and need to save some $ for a strike fund. First, the promotional department employee was really rude to me, rattling off numbers of our services broken down differently than on our bill at lightning speed and when I tried to explain that I wasn't following I was told to use a calculator. I asked to speak to someone else after she snapped at me to be quiet. I was told in the end that shaw does not lower prices of existing services I have to get rid of services to lower costs they do not offer other options. $159 starting next month as they will be increasing as of April 1st.
