Dinner will be hubby`s surprise. He can cook tonight!
I was thinking to make stuffed peppers, but I would have to go buy some ground beef.
I'm still at the hospital these days.. "serenity now, serenity now"..no shortage of food, one sister brought in a plate of spaghetti, my SIL pizza and I'm staying with my younger brother now and he's gone home to cook pork chops (should be interesting :-) )
large bag of chips
tin of oysters
two oreo cookies
boiled egg
I did end up making stuffed peppers. Used orzo instead of rice. It looks like a small thing, but it sure is filling.
Husband cooked tonight - and it was awesome.
First, note that yesterday he thought he would cook and I walked into the kitchen as he was putting frozen pieces of chicken into the electric frying pan. Well, I talked to him about that and explained that what he wanted to do wouldn't work that way - and that I already had supper planned, that the chicken could thaw overnight and he could cook the next day.
So he fried the chicken pieces today - I don't know what the method is called, but he does it with porkchops, too - you keep frying it, adding water to steam, then bring it back to a fry, then add more water, etc. til it's crispy yummy.
What made it really nice, too, is that he thought of and made the sides. Usually he would just do the meat. He made mashed potatoes (uh, enough for an army!), and creamed peas - being kind enough to not use dairy.
Well, what a sweetie - the meal was absolutely delish! :)
I have no idea whats for dinner tonight. My mom, who lives about an hour away, is coming to visit. She is insistent on going to some restaurant she heard about here in the city. She is not sure where it's at, only that it's near the big fiddle (yes, we have a huge fiddle here). So I suspect we will spend the evening driving around downtown until we find a restaurant that may or may not be the right one, lol. If the food is good she will likely conclude that it was the right one. :)
I have to admit this is similar to what happened to me. I was looking for a new Chinese restaurant to try out and someone mentioned there was one by Bayer's Lake but didn't give the name. So I yelped it. If I went to the one they meant, then they have lousy taste lol
Spaghetti noodles, crumbled hard boiled egg, bacon, chicken, mixed veggies in tomato sauce baked with mozzarella cheese. Had a side salad planned but it went grey overnight. Ugh.
Homemade meat pies with ceaser salad. Lazy dinner in front of the tv on a stormy night. With cuddles :)
A crazy collection of clean out the fridge/freezer. Chicken fingers, spring rolls, wontons, leftover fried rice and a broccoli cauliflower veggie mix.
I made baked turkey thighs with a creole seasoning. Sides were leftover fried rice and leftover orzo pasta. All the leftovers are finally finished.
I didn't feel like cooking tonight so my husband went out to get Shawarma's , we live in a small town, he calls me its closed!! He goes to another restaurant it's closed!! He calls me..he thinks he's in a horror movie everything is closed..( there is a bit of a storm outside, maybe they closed early)I said,,try the Chinese restaurant..he hasn't called back so I think I'm having Chinese ha,ha,ha!!!
^ hope you get something!
We had baked ham, macaroni in mushroom sauce, salad.
toasted mortadella and cheese sandwich and banana for dessert.
