Tonight it was roast chicken and fried rice.
Fish and Chips from a restaurant downtown on the way home.
I have some cod fillets thawing, from the food fishery catch back in August...so will pan fry those..boiled potatoes mashed with butter, etc and homemade pickles/chutney (that I didn't make)
this will be the gang's dinner tonight but it was my lunch, thinly sliced skinless, boneless chix breasts, crumbed and baked.
( got to use some special spices that were given to me as a gift after a friend's visit to Turkey! ) Added saffron, coriander and paprika to the crumbs. Mashed red skins ( skins left on! mmm) steamed fresh carrots and broccoli.
Roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes with peas and carrots.
Butter Chicken Lasagna...so good...so FATTENING!!!
Leftovers from earlier in the week. We had fried cheese perogies, fried rice (home made), chicken and vegetable stir-fry (home made), and chocolate milk.
Tomorrow I am roasting a 12lb turkey with yellow onions and carrots. I think I will try cooking my butternut squash and sweet potato in the slow cooker (as suggested in another thread this week). Probably mashed potatoes and gravy to go with it too. All for no particular reason, but it will make for good leftovers.
I currently have raspberry oatmeal squares in the oven for a baby shower on Sunday, this way I know they are ready to go. :)
edit: Can't forget the cranberry sauce, it is one of my favourite things about having a roast bird.
Making some spaghetti and meatballs for tonight.
and so it begins again......the menu? the planning, the shopping, cooking and cleanup for the coming week. I REALLY want to make something new-ish. These comfort dishes are not helping our waistlines any.
Whatever we can grab thats in the fridge and doesnt involve too much work!
It's a miserable weather day here..currently have winds 75km/hr gusting to 123km/hr...so what else is there to do but cook & eat!!! Hopefully, I don't lose the power, I'm going to bake a couple of large turkey thighs, shred the meat and make hot turkey, with mash potatoes, green peas and stove top, lots of turkey gravy..even if the power does go I should still be able to finish cooking on the wood stove. And, while that's cooking this afternoon I'm popping a large bowl of popcorn and watching t.v. all day, which I rarely get a chance to do. Hope there's a good movie/show on!
Tourtière
^Oh, yum, Wolfie - do you make it? If not, what brand do you buy and like? I've only had Schneiders.
Last night, I had Renee's spinach dip and crackers; husband had leftover chicken bits and bread, then later eggs and bread.
Tonight - ? Don't wanna cook...
I am blaming the weather! I still have only thawed some cod and shrimp and have made a darn thing yet! ( too busy crocheting and napping accidentally ) lol
I'm having leftovers... some salmon pasta salad and some roast beef.
This was not dinner but it was coffee this afternoon

Geez, husband totally messes up eating on the weekend. All week he only eats supper. Weekends, he eats during the day, then doesn't want supper - or much, anyway. And I do!
Anyway, yesterday I waited til 7, asked if he's eat, he said no, so I had tuna sandwiches and chicken noodle cup a soup.
He later made Mr. Noodles.
Gah, will try again tonight for a nice takeout meal!
Been at the local craft fair all weekend. Will probably pick up A&W on the way home tonight. :)
walks--I'm coming to your place for dinner! lol
wolfie- I was wondering the same if you made the tourtière yourself, thanks for the info
pady- hello!
harbie- love the pics!
nat- take-out chinese would so hit the spot today but it's leftovers for me
toocoupon- I love going to craft fairs, some are just starting in my area, Christmas fairs are always so exciting!!
leftovers for me today...from the turkey will just make a clubhouse and a lovely salad to go with it
Cross rib roast with roast potatoes, carrots and onions. Plus a salad with mixed greens.
I put some pork chops into the crockpot with soy sauce, ketchup, garlic and brown sugar. I'm not sure they will be done on time for supper though, so I have some chicken I bought today that I can bake or grill quickly enough.
Lou's BBQ co. Pulled pork on a bun. Surprisingly good!
Making a healthy version of general tso (baked) with chow mein!
There's nothing like an interesting supper discussion. I napped late, but I wait for him to mention food. He only eats when he's hungry (gah!) - and I mean hungry, he doesn't understand when someone says they 'feel like eating'.
(note, I am not usually picky -not at all!)
He suggests KFC (always, he would eat it daily if he could).
I said, okay, but just order what you'll eat yourself, no way could I eat anything from there (just not today, usually I don't mind).
I say I need vegetables (which he doesn't understand). He says well, he could get Chinese food for me, and KFC for him.
No that won't work, it's really cold out and they are way too far apart.
Well, he says Chinese food is good if I order meat.
Ok, pick a meat. Ribs? Don't worry, not S&S.
Honey garlic? No. Ok, they have dry ribs.
What else? Potatoes.
Well, how about noodles. Okay.
I check the menu. They have fries. Better - he didn't really want noodles, he had some yesterday.
Then he's happy.
But I tack on chop suey (theirs is amazing; every veg and a great sauce!), shrimp, and steamed rice for me.
YAY. Thus, supper negotiations are successful.
(Guess what I REALLY wanted for supper?)
I made a small roast yesterday which was not ready in time for dinner so tonight I think I will make beef dip sandwiches with regular and sweet potato chips done in the oven. I need to roast veggies tonight for my lunches this week so I will toss a couple of those on my plate too for some colour.
Making honey garlic chicken and rice. Found the recipe here http://www.sixsistersstuff.com/2014/...en-recipe.html
Tasted the sauce, it's entirely too sweet. I had to put more soy sauce and even some hoisin sauce to even it out.
I'll roast some loin porkchops with onions, carrots, and potatoes - lots of garlic, Italian seasoning. Salad to go with.
