The storm ( rain) that hit the GTA last night was the perfect time for me to ask DD to assist me in preparing some meals for us ( since we are out of them)
We made 7 servings each of lemon chicken, and chicken stew. Should tide us over for a bit.

chicken casserole last night
My very dear husband made Ukrainian toast for us - he did a fine job, and it was yummy!
Tonight we'll BBQ pork souvlaki, potatoes, with some veggie sides.
DH left to do a side job(I swear he's been busier since he retired 7 years ago than he was when he worked) in California and Nevada so I'm flying solo for about 6 days. He goes to the states and moves around rv's and boats to wholesale auctions and sometimes brings them back to Canada. So I think I will make some spaghetti sauce tonight, then I will do some lasagna, meatballs, and a few casseroles. I can pop them in the freezer, and if I'm hungry I can take one out and pop it in the oven. But, the nice thing about flying solo is if I just want a piece of toast & jam, I can have that too :)
making pot roast for dinner tonight with turnip, squash, carrots and small potatoes.
this might be " off putting" for some ( like my DH who often comments on how I ruin perfectly good veg soup by blending it up)
I yielded approx. 20 or more cups once it was all done. This soup is my sort of FREE thing I eat before having my portioned entree, I look at it as a filler-upper, helps me stay full, less temptation to snack later.
Donna, why do you puree it up?? Does it stick with you longer than having the veggies chunky, or is it more like a creamed soup when its blended? It looks really good. One of my favorites is cream of broccoli soup. Although when I make it, I take out some of the small broccoli pieces before I puree it, then I add the broccoli back after, so there is still a bit of texture left.
Last night was hot dogs and kraft dinner (yikes, lol). Today I'm making potato salad and going to grill some chicken on the bbq. Rain or no rain, I'm barbequing!
Made a large batch of chili today, should last me for lunches for the rest of the week. :)
BBQ!
Hamburger with garlic flower :)
I just love the texture of a pureed creamy soup. The flavours blend together, the taste is different. Also whenever I eat ANYTHING, I always have to get floss and get stuff out from between the teeth, so this pretty much eliminates that! lol.
I still love cream of broccoli too, yes with the veg still whole, but I am off dairy so no cream. The sweet potato provides the thickening agent that makes this one sort of creamy.
Going to grandsons birthday party this afternoon. We are doing taco's, so all the kids get to make their own. We'll have lots of condiments chopped up so they can add what they want. It should make for an interesting meal! So today I eat Taco's :)
