First off, I went to SDM and used some printable SC Johnson coupons on the Glade SOC without a problem.
My problems were with the cashiers at the following two stores:

RCSS: Took up my purchases, I only had a few coupons here but wanted to use the $2.00 off printable SCJohnson coupon for the Zip'N"Steam bags, as they are the only grocery around me who carries these. The young cashier said she can't accept printed coupons, but calls another cashier (old BAT actually) to confirm this....the older lady three tills down yells over to me infront of the store "We DO NOT take printed coupons here"...so I asked MY cashier "since when do you not take them?" as I pointed out to her I have used them many times before on the Glade or the Skintimates...she tells me she doesn't know, so I told her that was fine I would go over to customer service and talk to them.
I head over to customer service, however as I am on my way there, she goes to the other cashier, says something to her, that older cashier heads over to customer service (where apparently she also works..) points to the other lady CS clerk in my direction...(Ever had the feeling someone is talking behind your back, except you can hear and see them doing it....)....The older lady (in her 50's or 60's I am sure with an attitude from hell) completely IGNORES me, and then when it is my turn the cashier walks away and leaves the CS counter!!! I said "Excuse me, I just have a question please" and as I ask her when they started not taking the printed coupons, she says "oh, yes, that cashier already told me you wanted to talk to us"..WTH??!!
So anyways to make a long story short, she was really nice, but refused to take my coupons, and only told me she'd take my telephone # and name and the one coupon (which I didn't mind, as I have more) and she'd call SC Johnson tomorrow and also talk to her manager, as she stated "we were having problems with printed coupons"...when I asked if it was at every RCSS, she said "oh I really have no idea"...
    Then on to WalMart Supercenter:
    I had 2 x $3.00 off Biore expiring June 30th. I also had 1x $1.00 off Pledge and 1x B1G1 free Pledge coupon, so:
    4 items+4 coupons, one per item...but nooooooooooooooooooo
Young cashier in express lane says: "I can only use one Pledge coupon, so if you're getting a free one, you can't have $1.00 off the oter...."
So I said: "look, I have 2 coupons, one for each Pledge...no where does it state I cannot get 1 of them for 1.00 off, I am still paying for it"...and she refused...and so I said "Fine, just give me the $1.00 off coupon back"...THEN:
She reads the Biore coupon, which OF COURSE states "one coupon per purchase" meaning as we all know at SC, one per purchase means ONE COUPON PER ITEM PURCHASED, in otherwords, not more than one coupon can be used on 1 item.....SO she tells me that she can do it but it has to be rung in SEPERATELY...so I am losing my patience right now, and I said" OMG, This is the 3rd time I have had to ask for a manager to explain this to cashiers, one per purchase means one coupon per item,"...she slams my coupon down, goes over to a supervisor, who knows what she said to her, because she came back and told me that "we can only do one at a time, we only get reimbursed from the manufacture for one coupon per BILL""!!!!!!!!!
    OMG, now I am LIVID...
So I tell her to ring it in, and I went to my car, drove away, stopped on the side of the raod because by then I was not going to let it go again for the 3rd time in 4 months, so I called and asked for the store manager, which wasn't in, so a lady in charge (I guess she is the front end manager) took my call, listened to what I had to say, then calmly says"
"I am so sorry this is happening to you, I don't understand how they can't get the whole coupon thing...I use coupons myself, and you are correct, one per purchase means one coupon per item, and definately you should NOT have to have all your purchases rung in individually". She proceeded to tell me that she is going to bring this up with the store manager tomorrow and call a meeting for the cashiers on the proper proceedures when accepting coupons, and in the meantime, if it happens again, to ask for her.

Thanks for letting me rant, now I feel better...but, HAS ANY OF THESE SCENARIOS EVER HAPPENED TO ONE OF YOU? WHAT STORES DO YOU FIND NOT ACCEPTING PRINTED COUPONS??

    That is aweful.
I hate when this stuff happens.
Sometimes its just because the cashier is in a mood or something.
Sorry this happened. I would follow up at all the stores. Call and ask policy on the printables.

I would be mad too. I've never tried using a printed coupon because I have trouble getting stores to take just regular coupons lol. I once had a cashier ring all my stuff through, then proceed to tell me she could only let me use one coupon because it said "one coupon per purchase", so I said fine I'll just take the one item, and she refused to take the other stuff off! She was all like "well I already rung it in". I was *so* mad. I paid for it and took it right over to customer service and returned it all and complained.

I've also had problems with them not wanting to take coupons if the item is like 1 penny less then the coupon value (like a $2 coupon being used on a $1.99 item). I really think there needs to be a universal coupon policy for all stores to follow.

Well at least it seems that you have people looking into it for you at each store. Thats more than I can say for myself when I run into these situations LOL

The one that drives me crazy is what you described with the Pledge bogo. Why wouldn't you be able to use a coupon off the one you're buying and then get one free. Doesn't make any sense to me!!

I'd say over 75% of the time when I do this I run into problems, most of the time they'll do it once I "argue my case", but a few have stonewalled me altogether. Its always such a relief to get a cashier who doesn't bat an eyelash!

Good luck with your printables! I hardly ever use them anymore. The only places I don't seem to have problems is SDM and Zellers, Walmart is a bee-yotch with them!

Geez I hate when people give me a hard time with coupons, especially those printed ones. It makes me feel like a criminal.

But don't you just love when you find a good employee who is on your side? Good for you for pulling over and calling back!

I rarely use printed coupons, pretty much for this reason.

Walmart is the worst when it comes to printable coupons. I have been accused of having photocopied them. I would always point out to them that a photocopier cannot do shades like a printer can, but of course, they would still argue. Save-on-Foods also will not accept printed coupons. London Drugs, SDM and Zellers do accept them.

Thats a terrible bunch of cashiers you ran into! Bad enough to get one on a shopping trip, never mind several in the same day! I never had a problem at RCSS until recently, used a $ off coupon , plus a bogo, and she said she could only take half off for the bogo, instead of free, because I was already using the $ off for the other one. No idea how she determined that one! And the other day, same store, used the .50 for kraft dressing, and got 5 of them. Not 10 minutes later, my parents by coincidence gave the cashier the same coupons, but she wouldnt take them.

I have issues every time I use any coupons, printed or not, and at every chain store. They certainly don't make it easy.

Yesterday I managed to find the Brisk on sale at Zellers, surprised they even had stock and she said I can use the coupon B2G1 but she was gong to charge me the regular price of $5.49 not the sale price of $3/$10. WTV??? Finally had to call the head cashier who let it go. Don't they always make you feel like they are doing you a favor when they say O.k. we'll let it go?

I don't think there is a store I've been to whereby the cashiers are aware of coupon policies and I think one of the reasons they don't is because people don't use alot of coupons. Then again if they have trouble like this everytime why bother with the hassle. Could explain why there are not a lot of couponers.

I agree...some of the cashiers make you feel like you just ruined their day when you present the coupons....almost makes you feel like you are asking them for a free item from their personal stock!

That sucks so much for you! I've had problems with printable coupons, but from the other end, and really for a cashier it's just easier to say we don't accept them, than to get in trouble. Awhile back there were a bunch of coupons scanned and posted online, and people were using them up like mad because they were super good coupons, turns out they were not supposed to be printed ones, and they were from a mail out. I wish companies would be put like a disclaimer on printable ones "to store clerk these are printables"!

I have had both good and bad. Lately I have had one problem after another at No Frills so I finally called Loblaws who then explained that because No Frills was independently owned they could set their own coupon policy(s). I called the Mgr of No Frills and simply explained that I average a grocery bill of $150+ a week and if I have to continue taking my No Frills flyer to WM for price matches , as WM will take my coupons than the loss will add up for them over time. Especially if more people like me are doing the same. He can do what he wants with that info. I hate waiting for supervisor overrides at No Frills anyways when you go over $10 in coupons.
Next, I have found that at WM IF you talk to a CSM/Mgr about your coupons BEFORE you use them that my problems are greatly reduced. I asked just 2 days ago about an all French coupon, SC Johnson printable, BOGO with a coupon. CSM OKed them and "bob's your uncle" away we go... At the check out I was able to say to my cashier, Your CSM Jen, already ok'd these coupons. Try it, it may just work
