We noticed big differences in milk prices too (even within the same chain). We've found the prices to be lowest at Sobeys in Clayton Park (on Lacewood). They always seem to be in the 5.60 range for 4L. It says this store special, but it always seems to be on sale and you can choose from either farmers or scotsburn.

I commented before, but I thought I would mention how much those 8 litres of milk a week were costing me here in Halifax, before I went cold turkey in January of this year...

    4x 2L cartons x $7.23 = $28.92 / week
    Or $115.68 / month
Or holy moo $1388.16 / year

That's more than 2 years of car insurance for me!

    I'm glad I'm off the moo-juice!

tkdmum the low Clayton Park price is likely because it is so close to Costco. Costco's price usually ranges from 5.29-5.55/4L. If they don't drop their price many people will just drive down the road!

$3.97 here right now... fluctuates, sometimes $4.99, but when one store puts it down to $3.97, they all stay at that price, or they loose sales; small town word travels fast about a price difference of a $1 for sure.

    Over $7... that's highway robbery!

    Learn something new everyday!

Based upon this I would assume that homogenized can vary from 3-4% dependant upon brand.

    Fraction lesson: .25 = 1/4 = 25% (they are all the same)
