I LOVED my pet snake!! We used to 'read' together...she'd be wrapped around my wrist with her nose in my book as I read it, and when I wanted to turn a page, I'd just tap her nose gently and she'd pull back, let me turn the page, and continue her reading!!
One night....she slipped out of her cage in our Daughter's room (yes, she loved Gwendolyn, too :))...and honestly, I can put my hand on a Bible for this....there she was, in the morning, under the covers of her doll's canopy bed, all tucked in under the little quilt with her head on the pillow!!!
