    We want pictures!

& a recipe, please, if you wouldn't mind pm'ing me. Had such success with the ham pie (well, the critters devoured it), that I'm inspired to bake for humans.

haha-Andit as luck would have it I take pictures of the pie I make because when food takes time to prepare I want to remember it longer than it takes to eat it! lol I will upload them now. They are still on my camera. I will also get the recipe as well. I can take pics tomorrow too of the winter pie as long as I do end up making it tomorrow. Sometimes plans change with me but I will take pics and post them if you like when I make it.

    From Company's Coming Pies Cookbook
Cooking Apples, peeled cored and cut up 2lbs
    Granulated Sugar 2/3cup
    Brown Sugar 1/3cup
    All purpose flour 2tbsp
    Cinnamon 1/2tsp

    Unbaked Pie Shell

    Topping
    All purpose flour 2/3cup
    Brown Sugar 6tbsp
    Butter or Margarine 1/4cup
    Cinnamon 1/4tsp
    Salt 1/4tsp

    Glaze (optional)
    Icing Sugar 1/2cup
    Lemon Juice 1-2tbsp

Quarter apples. Cut each quarter in half length wise and then cut twice cross wise into large bowl. You will need 5 cups.

Add next 4 ingredients and toss.
    Pour into pie shell
    Topping
Combine all ingredients. Mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over pie. Bake on bottom shelf in 400 F oven for 10 minutes. Turn oven to 350F and bake for about 50minutes until apples are tender. Cool.
    Glaze
Glaze is optional. Mix Icing sugar and lemon juice together to make barely pourable glaze. Drizzle over pie.

For me I make a few changes because I find it is better. I cook the filling in a pan and also add more flour but if you cook it in a pan-add the flour after it boils! not right away at the beginning. I also tried doubling the flour because it is a little runny otherwise. I also put in 1tsp of cinnamon because I find 1/2tsp isn't enough but I looove cinnamon!! With the glaze I add water instead of lemon juice or add half and half because straight lemon juice is sour tasting. Ok here are the pics! My pie always turns out a little runny but it could be something with me? But it sure tastes really good!

Here is half the pie in the pan still to give you an idea what it looks like. Usually I get a pic before people dive in but sometimes that is difficult! People looove pie!!! ALso the crust was a bought crust that was actually forgotten in the freezer because we normally don't buy pie crusts and it has been buried in the freezer for awhile and had shrunk a bit and so it didn't make it up the sides of the pie plate all the way so that is why you don't see the crust. I prefer homemade crusts but that could be because this one was partially dehydrated by the time we used it? lol

haha-there is always a reason for pie! lol Say you need dessert for after supper? or your pets are less bratty and you want to celebrate that! lol Or you made it thru a day where your pets were extra bratty and you need a treat? PIE!!! LOL oh and the best reason? Pie ingredients are on sale and if that is the case you must not let the sale go to waste! lol

It must have been on sale! they are great dishes aren't they? I actually think we did get them because they were on sale come to think of it... We were looking for new dishes and well stuff on sale is great right?! Plus we liked that they are not supposed to shatter when they fall and break. I think that is actually true tho we didn't try on purpose.

O.K so i'm tired now - spent the afternoon in the kitchen dealing with appley stuff and have hardly made a dent in the box we picked.

Word of warning peeps ...Do not double a new pie crust recipe in the hopes that it will work as well as your standard, never-given-you-any-real-problems-before recipe
Cos obviously this is what i did and although the offending pie crust may taste really nice, it was a devil to work with!!

Never mind, have enough dessert in the fridge to last a couple of days...(i hope!)....so there is plenty of time for me to recover and make the crumble and maybe some apple pancakes, some muffins.....what else can i do with those apples
