Oh, gee, Nancy - no referral? That's crazy, considering there's going to be a wait for him to see the specialist, then probably a wait til the surgery...

You know how it works... he might be scheduled but your own Dr won't call you. It'll be the surgeon's receptionist that will call you.
Call the hospital and ask for Urology and ask if there's an appointment for your son. If no, call your Doc back. If yes, you score. Problem is it might take a while. Sadly they go by "priority" and if it's not immediately life threatening it could be a while.
I waited 11 months for an MRI of my head when they thought it might be a tumor. Reason? It was assumed to be a "cyst" that was on the skull and not the brain so because I wasn't in danger (just in severe pain daily with deadly headaches but that's OK to them) they prioritised other people. Which I sort of understand but dam. When it's little kids I think they should throw out politics and have someone be allowed to pull overtime to supply the demand.
They're weird that way. UGH @ Canadian medicare and politics!!

Good morning, everyone! Dark & rainy right now. Too bad it's too wet to go stalk Noah Wyle (he's fighting aliens in my neighbourhood).

If everyone's still giving you the run-around, it's time to visit your local politician. It's amazing how quickly things can change when there's a danger of being embarrassed in the media.
Hopefully, your little guy is seen quickly. It sucks to have to wait. I don`t suppose you`d like to come to Toronto for a visit (Sick Kids Hosp here is supposed to be one of the top hospitals in the world)?
Yikes! You poor thing. I`ve been lucky that I`ve only encountered 2 incompetent doctors. One told me to go home & rest cause I have the flu when I went to emergency (my appendix was disintegrating). The other was a diabetic specialist who put me on a new type of insulin & when I complained about my sugar levels crashing & going wonky, he lied & told me my old insulin was no longer on the market (I suspect he was getting a kick-back from the pharmaceutical co).
I`m lucky (?) in that my health status (transplant etc) means I can call up a clinic & get an ultrasound for myself pretty much within a day.
