I don't know your city.
But, in Toronto and the GTA, they have reduced cost admission for many attractions throughout the year. Also, the "Doors Open" tours are great too.
If you are collecting the free movie offers from cereals, free movies is always nice. Cineplex has the toonie Tuesdays movies and Empire theatre has the $6 matinee deals too.

Oh yeah. My friend does the Wag Jag deals and is going to one of the foodie shows at the Exibition for half price.
Other friends go to the International Centre on Airport Road. They have great stuff to see and do on weekends.
Try the Via Rail 50% off deals for a weekend getaway.

I agree with lots of what Shwa Girl said. Use the daily deal sites as much as possible to cut costs. Tuesday is also cheap movie nights at Empire Theatres. Play tourist in your city. If you are still in HRM there are lots of great sights to see - when the wether is a bit nicer go to the boardwalks, multiple beaches, in the summer the alfresco movies on the buildings, or Shakespeare by the Sea when it begins. Neptune Theatres does matinee run throughs before they are fully open for donation rather than admission.

If you can ship off the kids to a family relative/babysitters house for the evening. A nice candle lit romantic home cooked dinner, candle light, massage is always a great cheap activity. You can setup the table in another room to make it a little different as compared to the daily grind.

Every 2nd Friday night is at home date night for us. He plans and makes a special dinner and I sit on the counter and drink wine while we chat. We eat in the family room with candles only (no lights) and music and chat all night long. We make our own wine which works out to about $3 bottle and it compares to the expensive one we were buying. We really look forward to our Friday nights My friend knows when it's our date night and plans friend gatherings on a different night. I love that we have this tradition and hope we have it always Even when we went camping last summer he made a wonderful pasta dinner and we ate and drank wine at the picnic table (it was Friday night!)

Also with the free DQ coupons on the General Mills boxes I plan to pack a backpack and tell him to grab his bike for a romantic evening at the park. Take him to DQ on the way to redeem a free coupon and then go to the park and lay a blanket down and watch the people etc

If the weather is permitting pack a picnic and go to a park or by the water, chit chat and enjoy each others company, get to know each other again.
2019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!

Our favourite inexpensive date is to pack a picnic lunch, our pillows, a blanket and a good book and take a half hour drive, on a warm summer afternoon, through the countryside, to our favourite park. We are retired so we can do it through the week when the park isn't busy.
After our picnic lunch, we find a big old shade tree and have a lie down and read under that tree. On occasion, we've even been known to have a little nap under that tree.
Before going home, we head to our favourite ice cream shop for an ice cream cone. On the way home we look at each other and ask "Does life get any better than this???" (lol )
Isn't it the little things that make us feel content!Last edited by Retiree; Fri, May 10th, 2013 at 06:06 PM.

Saturday was a nice day so we went for a drive. Redeemed a DQ for a free blizzard each . Found a nice beach close to home that we didn't know existed and will for sure plan a day trip there. Was a nice day!

Bumping this!
Reminding everyone to make time for their loved one Doesn't have to cost $ to have date night. You don't even have to leave home just plan to do something together (other then laundry lol) so you can re-connect if you have been busy lately
