Took the family to a pick your own farm today and the apples were only $1.10/lb for any variety assortment. I was so excited as they have ambrosia (similar to honey crisp). These, if you can find them in stores, are never lower than $2/lb

So glad you took the recommendation! I go there about once a week during the fall season for apples and their bakery goods. I love how it is a family owned farm (3 generations now) and they don't charge to visit (like Chudleighs now does!). I know Chudleighs has an amazing playground for the kids, etc., however I don't think it's fair to charge people (quite a bit by the way!) to visit when they know people are buying their products. Anyways, I'm so glad you visited Carluke's Orchard and enjoyed the visit - they are so friendly there, they keep my husband and I going back every year! They also have not increased their apple prices for 2 years now!

Love apple picking. Carlukes sounds like a great place. Thanks for the recommendation. Understand what you mean about an entrance fee if you are there just to pick apples. Chudleighs is an entertainment destination for kids and not just traditional farming. It is good place for kids to learn about farming. A lot of farmers have had to think outside the box to survive.

Wow, that sound like a lots of fun. I am happy that your family had a good time. I wish I could do this too. My son bought my house and we have 2 apple tree and they are big. People are jalous of us but we give tons of them as it is too much just for one family. Lots of apple pies were made for us too.

We're planning to go to Carluke's later this week to pick Jonagold apples. After reading your brag, we'll have to try the Ambrosia variety, too!

U pick farms are a great day out. We have done this for strawberries. They are much sweeter and you have a wonderful time with your family.
