I made a nice Aveeno gift with bath puff for DS's teacher. Paid $1 for the puff and the rest was free (with overage from buying small Aveeno) I should have taken a picture but of course I was getting it together last minute this morning!!

I didn't initially think about this as a means to save money, but it really does help a lot. I participate in our office floors water club. I pay $60/year ($5/month) to have unlimited access to the water cooler just a few steps from my office. It has both hot and cold taps, so I make tea, instant coffee and bring drink crystals for iced tea, fill up my water bottle before and after the gym, etc. It has stopped me from buying drinks at work.

(I also always buy large flats of Gatorade at Costco and Great Canadian Wholesale for DH's lunch - costing about $0.75/bottle compared to $2-$3 a bottle at the gas station.)

We are trying to empty our freezer because of our impending move. Tonight we had ground meat shaped into hot dog shapes because we had hot dog buns but not hamburger buns. I think kids would love this variation! It was fun.

I'm making homemade laundry soap using grated old soap bars, a box of washing soda, and a box of borax mixed together. Grating the old soap bars by hand is a chore, next time I'll try a blender. It was the simplist recipe I could find and should be cost-effective compared to the commercial stuff.

Another month of packing a lunch everyday. So far 7 months of not buying lunch. August should be easy as I have 15 days vacation in the month. I am pretty pleased with myself.

    Let's say $5.00 per lunch (conservatively) X 7 X 20 working days per month = $700 Woot! Woot!

Planning the meals for the week around what is on hand. Only need a few things really. Should be a cheap week for groceries and will let me carry over a huge chunk for groceries in the budget.

Dinner was left overs from a Friday night dinner party, so was lunch. It was nice to not cook but great to use up the leftovers.

DH found $5.10 on the ground, picked it up and put it in his pocket.
