I have been able to use manager's stickers and manufacturers coupons together in the same transactions and today my Shoppers store told me that isn't allowed anymore at their store. I mentioned that I have been doing this for ages, but the head cashier has now told all her cashiers to stop allowing this practice. I phoned Shoppers they said this coupon policy is really up to each individual store.

I've never been able to use a mfr coupon if there's a manager's sticker on a product at the stores I shop at.

Yup, policy changes by store. My bugaboo - at our nearest SDM I can't use printed coupons, but at the other two in our area, no problem.

Similar experience here...one store won't accept coupons on clearance/sales merchandise. Needless to say, I haven't been back to that store since I learned about this new policy.

    This policy makes sense.

Items are on clearance many times due to getting rid of old stock from poor sales. Usually more than 90 days since ordered so won't fit the criteria most manufacturers have for submitting them for reimbursement.

I've never seen these famed manager's stickers at any Downtown or West Ottawa SDM. What do they look like?

crappy. I haven't had an issue as of yet as I got free bistro rice on clearance, plus used my coupons. I don't see the big deal since the store gets their money back from the coupons.

It seems to all vary by store. I just shop at the ones which are coupon friendly. About using coupons on sale/clearance merchandise, I just realized that it might be due to that pesky fine print : "not to be used with any other offer". Is a sale an offer??

This doesn't make sense. If the coupon says it's valid until whatever date it doesn't matter how long the product has been sitting on the shelf or when the store ordered it.
Coupons are a form of tender and as long as the customer redeems them before the expiry date of the coupon they should be accepted and the store will get their money back from the company that issued the coupon.

Grew up in the back of my parent's grocery store. 2x, reps from 2 different manufacturers came to the store and requested to see purchase invoices for the past 90 days to show that stock would cover the amount of coupons submitted for refund.
