Hi everyone, turning 55 can make some women feel sad, I on the other hand am looking forward to getting all the senior's discount I thought we should start a thread were everyone lists their discounts.
I know about SDM, I know Mrs. January lists a bunch of offers for 55, 60 and 65. I found out that GoodLife fitness charges $400 for a 1 year membership if you are 55+. Please tell me about all the discounts and deals!!
Thanks,

Congrats! I think you can get free banking i.e. RBC, TD etc if you are above certain age as well :p

Hey, I never even thought of that, and I hit 55 in January!
My husband is older than me, and I think we used the SDM discount only once - we usually shop there weekly, but pretty much only for advertised specials, whereas the senior discount is only for regular priced items.
The best discount for us was banking - but that kicked in at 60. Everything free at our credit union - it's amazing!

you may check out the Canadian Association for Retired Persons. CARP discounts start in the 50s. And they have a great cell phone plan with specials on minutes, from time to time.

I know in our area, hamilton, Ont, recreation centre yearly passes are less than $40. Senior centres offer fabulous discounts for activities. Baby Boomers are here to stay for a while so ask around. For a while I thought 55 was "old" but I have to tell you it really is a state of mind followed by a phyically fit body that decides your true age. I just started a new career last year and I gotta tell you it is exciting! Let your attitude be your guide! BTW I am getting fit, have a ways to go but am feeling great!

When both of my parents reached the age to quality for "senior discounts" they were very adamant about not asking for the discount. After some pushing and showing them how must they'd save, they now love it.

Humpty's family restaurant has a discount for 55+, it might be restricted to certain days. I don't think Humpty's is where you live, but I still wanted to share for others.

Thanks everyone, I agree it's a state of mind, I still feel like I'm 27, but my hearing and eyesight (started needing glasses to read) are telling another story hahaha!! I remember a few years ago our local fair was having free breakfast for seniors, I said to my husband, "this may be fun for your parents" until I read the fine print a senior was 50 and over, I said this is for us!! Oh well, we seniors have to stick together!!

For those who have Jean Coutu near them, they offer a senior's discount. I don't qualify yet but I think the one near me is at age 65.
