2 part post.
Part 1: After a couple weeks in the hospital, they had to sedate him as he was getting violent and bit a nurse. They did surgery on his prostate and that helped him a lot. He was discharged and we got him a caretakerhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-...stRecentReview

gryphon, does he have dementia? Sometimes the elderly get confused, and scared - then get violent. Could also be a side effect from a medication, maybe...
Hoping he gets the help he needs right away.

There is a correlation between UTI's and Alzheimers.
My friends mother started displaying symptoms of agitation and violence and was admitting where they diagnosed her with a UTI, Seniors don't display UTI symptoms like a younger person does.
Here is some info, http://www.alzheimers.net/2014-04-03...-and-dementia/Last edited by thriftygranny; Sat, Jul 23rd, 2016 at 12:17 PM.

some medication drive people ''crazy'' you (your Dad) must check and find out what med they are giving your GrandFather
i.g. most often these are narcotics....given quite OFTEN to old people and many have bad reactions to that....
i saw that with friends parents and mine ....they are not themselves when they take these medsThank's to DH who told me the grumpy Garfield was not at all representative of who i am

My dad is having a breakdown and is crying. the situation with my grandfather is getting a lot worse. We had to physically restrain my grandad to get him to take his medicine.
