That was traumatic to watch! What a horrible thing to do to a cat! First take him out of his own environment where he feels secure and then do that?! I'm glad they at least ended it with the poor thing wrapped in a towel.

I think I can officially say that the battle between cats and dog in my house has been won....and the cats won.

got new furniture. The dog got a new bed (100 lb golden lab....huge dog). He was trying to get on the couch one night, so I told him to go sleep on his bed. Well the cat was on it. I moved the cat off and the dog laid on his bed. The cat then walked over and swatted the dog in the head. Dog got up and laid on the floor, a couple other confrontations of dominance ensued, cat laid right in the middle of the bed. Remainder if cats then proceeded to pull up a piece of dog bed.

dog has been chasing timid cat that has been hiding in my basement an only coming out at night.
cat as started to gain some confidence, and has been coming around more during the day, dog still chases.
cat was laying in bed with me this morning getting petted.
dog is walking around my room whining for me to get out of bed. Dog makes fatal error of putting his nose on my bed and whining. Timid, declawed cat who has been bullied by dog refuses to take any more and lunges at the dog and chases him off the bed and out of my room. She then proceeds to reassume her position on my bed directly in front of my iPad, as I am watching TV.

ended up bathing our handicapped old boy. he took it amazingly well, and was so appreciative of the bath, he laid there on a towel in the bottom of the bathtub, purring like crazy. I jumped into the tub with him for simplicity which might seem weird, but it made it so much easier. now he is a burrito kitty - all wrapped snug in a towel.

If you don't mind me asking, how is he handicapped?

He was hit by a car when he was four years old (now 18!). To save him from the accident they amputated one of his front legs, and the other is paralyzed up against his chest (think sort of like a chicken wing...) he gets around like a trooper - we lovingly call him our thumper though his name is Simba. Even did stairs up until a year ago (he can't be bothered now).

Well I finally got DH to help me get the pics transferred from the camera, saved and made smaller. Ugh, still involves 2 computers and my patience. You guys know sometimes the pic thing is tricky.

These are the most recent Hamlet ( and Claudius ) updates. They are the best of buds now, despite what the pics seem to show.

This is Ben. I just called him a *slang word fora cat* because he was laying on the floor beside the bed, so he got up and assumed his position beside Nobe. That is Ellie perched on top of the cat fortress, waiting to see a laser pointer or anything else to attack.
